Andersen 100 casements are much better than the single hungs for airtightness.

PNW here. We have the 100 casements and a lot of glass. No regrets. Black exterior white interior.

Our builder told us he just put them in a new 7 figure build a couple miles from us. They are popular here.

Forgot to mention that the type of windows are fixed and casement.

The recommendations here for the Andersen 100s supports what we initially wanted based on our designer and builder recommendations. Then I reached out to the local window dealer who will be supplying them to make sure we were choosing a quality window and they steered me towards the Ply-Gem. They said if we could live with white on the inside to go with Ply-Gem, we would get a better window for a lower cost and that this recommendation was based on 30 years experience. They also noted that recently they had an issue with Andersen 100s installed in a home that leaked. They seem to think it's a problem with the window design and that in certain cases where there is exposure to driving rains, the windows could leak. Eventually Andersen replaced them at no cost however, damage to the Drywall and insulation was not covered by Andersen. The window dealer said this has only happened once with Andersen windows that they provided. They asked about the weather patterns at our location and that being we get prevailing winds from the south and have double sliding doors and windows in the vaulted gable on the south side of our house that we could have a problem with leaks. I wonder if that one experience has caused them now to reccomend Ply-Gem.

Has anyone else heard about leaking being a problem with Andersen 100s when exposed to driving rains due to a flaw in the window design?

In window design? No. In incorrect installation methods? Yes.

I would inclined to blame that on an installation error as well. It would not dissuade me from using the 100's over anything Plygems at all.

With the double sliding doors on the southside, I would upgrade those to either the Andersen 200 or 400 (color etc. would match the 100. Both are just better doors in that situation.

Otherwise, I agree with the questioning of the installation in the other scenario rather than the windows.

We will be using Andersen 100s. Black inside and out. We will be starting our build early 2022. I'll report back when the windows go in.

I have used both extensively (over 200 remodels - most had window upgrades). We used Blk/Blk A 100's on our place in Sacramento, CA (can see pics of both in our profile - 45th St used A100, Quonset for the Ply Gems). I was a little disappointed in them, honestly. They looked great and made the design element pop, but the single-hung units felt cheap and less-sturdy than many of the Ply Gems and MI's I have used in the past. Now building houses in TX, and again considering A-100's vs Ply Gem 500's for a couple projects. Pricing is a huge factor (both have good warranties), but I have not had ANY leaking with either window.

Due to 16 week lead times for A-100s in early 2022, we made the decision to use Marvin windows from their Essentials line. It was a modest increase in cost but we have no regrets so far.

16 weeks?!?!?! Wow hoping that is not the case now! Good to know. We are looking at Marvin, as well, for the current projects. Thanks!

That was in March 2022. Lead time for Marvin was only 8 weeks at that time.

Current andersen 100 lead times seem to be about 10 weeks.
