BillV/Kevin - ? regarding marble/granite sealing
Comments (6)As usual, My brother Bill has been quicker than me to respond... I'm going to very respectfully disagree with my Bro - on the 511 thingy, mainly because I have never tried the impregnator...I'm sure if I actually took the time to compare, I may find what Bill is saying is right on (and it probably is anyways) HA! I have just never had ANY failures using 511 Porous Plus - and so I don't have to fix what aint broke... I've never had a problem with it - BUT - I haven't installed that much Carrara slabs in Kitchens (like NEVER out here in AZ), but tons in baths and lavs... as for the GQ stuff - I have not tried it - again, I'm pretty set in my ways after using 511 Porous Plus for close to 15 years.... OK, OK - I'll TRY the impregnator Bill!!!! ;-) then maybe I'll see your side of this from a different point of view.... ha! kevin Kevin m. Comments (8)It seems DuPont makes a load of different sealers. I got overwhelmed on the website. Some ward off water, and some ward off oils and water. Since this is a powder room, I just want to protect it from water; just something to keep the stone from getting those dark wet spots around the faucet and handles. I think I will not enhance it as I like the soft, subtle look of the pre-cut slab that the vendor (Signature Hardware) sent. I had great luck sealing and enhancing my mosaic stone trim in the kitchen, but it definitely made the veining pop. Regrettably, I don't have a scrap bit to play with, so I'd best get it right....See MoreHoned Vermont Danby marble countertop owners... Love it or leave it???
Comments (144)Hope we didn’t make a mistake. Stone Source did not have any soaostone we liked. so we went with a honed black granite. I have seen somewhere that citrus might etch them which I was hoping to avoid with soapstone. They are honed on one side and leathered on the other. So, I might have to go with the leathered. I still chose Danby marble for my perimeter cabinets. I think I would like the honed granite better aesthetically to go with honed marble. Any thoughts while I have time?...See MoreCarrera marble help
Comments (2)I was told to use Du Pont Revitalalizer but it does a crummy job. Still dull and marks can be seen. It is a cleaner and protector not a sealer. Perhaps I will call the stone place and ask them about your product. Thank you....See MoreMaryAliceB
