I will answer pool plaster questions
Comments (853)We are installing a pool and need to choose between Stonescapes MicroPebble and Universal Micro or Radient Fusion. Which finish is the smoothest? Should we consider Polishscapes or the Universal Artic series if we want something smoother than the micro finishes? We want smooth but not slippery as we have a baja shelf. Also, after install, do we need to brush these finishes 2X per day during the first month. Our pool builder will handle the water chemistry by checking it once a week. We are worried because we are scheduled to go out of town 2 weeks after the pool is finished/filled and we will be gone for 20 days. We can hold the pool finish until after we return if its advisable to brush daily for a month and be present to check water chemistry daily. We don't want to jeopardize our pool curing process. Thank you for your help!...See MoreConfused about flooring.... (Super confused.)
Comments (17)Floorman here 40 years experience professional installer First. You have a bigger leak under floor if it buckling. Sound to me you would be better to have vinyl plank installed instead of wood. If you want a professional job it will cost you $10 plus for wood and labor no furniture. Labor alone is $5 in Missouri. The cheap hardwood is all going to be soft easy to scratch. Vinyl plank would be cheaper. Labor is $1.50 to $2.00 sq ft. Its glue down or it can be loose laid if you buy that type. If a peace gets scratched easier to replaced even for DIY but that peace will have to be glued. Vinyl plank looks like real wood now days. Water won’t hurt it as long as not a major leak. If your on concrete for wood or vinyl a moisture test should be taken first to see if there’s any hydrostatic pressure if there is it shouldn’t lay either one would have to fix problem first. With vinyl plank if it is glued you might need 1/4” underlayment on sub floor. But loose snap in vinyl plank you shouldn’t need underlayment. If your floor is wavy so will the vinyl plank look. Just my advice....See MoreMannington Restoration Laminate reviews
Comments (45)Absolutely stay away from Manning Restorations Waterproof laminate. Our Manning Restorations Waterproof laminate in the colour "Anthology" has continued to extensively deteriorate in our bathroom after 3 years of installation. It is swelling everywhere and it is chipped in about 13 places, chipping even in places where it wasn't swollen. The beveled edges are the weak points for both water seeping into the core of the planks, as well as the laminate literally chipping off of the planks. As beautiful as this flooring is, it is literally garbage! We have 15 year old laminate flooring in the rest of our home and even though that is swollen in a few places, there is almost no chipping, and in comparison to the bathroom Mannington laminate, it has swollen far less in 15 years than the Mannington has swollen in 3 years. That being said, the Mannington is in installed in our bathroom, but it is a somewhat fair comparison because our older laminate throughout our home is also installed in our kitchen and front hallway, where there is tremendous water infiltration. I honestly cannot believe how poorly these Mannington Restoration "Waterproof" floors are made. The top portion of the laminate chips off at the edges and corners, and then the lower core of MDF is exposed, and then any tiny bit of water in that area makes it swell and deteriorate further. DO NOT take the chance and install this in your home! We are so happy that we utilized our bathroom as the test space for these floors. Otherwise, we would be out $7,000 or more and having to replace them throughout our home. So disgusted and disappointed. They should be sued over and over again for stating a product is "waterproof" when it absolutely isn't. Very deceptive company. Very disappointed....See MoreHas anyone used the new SmartCore Pro vinyl plank flooring?
Comments (55)I have bought and installed $3000.00 worth of smartcore pro 1 year ago in my unheated cabin since it said good for extreme temperatures down to 25 degrees below zero and Lowes said it was the best and only flooring that will work for me. The floor started to seperate in December 2020 at 19 degrees. Lowes said they can not help me and to file a claim with Shaw. Shaw sent an independent inspector to see flooring in March 2021. The so called independant inspector came and pretty much told me that his job is to find things to void the warranty so no claims get paid. He crawled on my floor throughout all rooms with a 6 foot level and found one high spot on my l floor that tilted his level uneven. I told him every house built has a joyce that is a little high or a little low. He agreed and said that he goes through million dollar brand new homes and always finds the same. He measured the space at edges an said some spots were too close to wall. I told him nothing expanded or contracted and its the locking that has failed. He also said the floor molding was touching the floor and that will also void a warranty. I told him there are no houses where the wall molding is not touching the floor and that no one keeps a gap below the molding. He agreed but said even if my floor did have more spacing and wall molding had a gap under it that Shaw would still void my claim since he found a joyce high spot. He left and I never had a returned call since March. I even offered to lift my floor and pay the $1.49 per square foot and to have it reinstalled by anyone of thier choice to prove it was not an installation problem and it is a locking failure problem with the flooring. I am a tipical hard working person that saved for two years to buy the best flooring made for my conditions. Shaw or Lowes have not even called me to offer me a solution or any compensation towards my $3000.00 invested. I do not know if my floor will continue to worsen but I do know it will not get better. I told the inspector that if Shaw really wanted to improve thier product that this was the perfect chance. An unheated cabin that temperatures go down to a couple of degrees below zero in the coldest part of the year. I have 8 rental proerties, a house and 2-cabins that I wanted to do all over with this flooring and now I can not trust Shaw flooring or Shaw customer service to correct the failure. My cousin is a contrator that build homes and works with hundreds of other contracors and said that he will no longer use Shaw flooring after he sees what happened to me. SHAME ON YOU SHAW FOR NOT FIXING YOUR FAILED FLOOR LOCKING PROBLEM. I or my cousin will never buy another Shaw product unless this is fixed by compensation or what I prefer which is to lift and reinstall new flooring by anyone of Shaws choice. The cabin next to me installed a cheap laminate flooring from Pergo at 1/2 the price and it has not failed under the same temperatures. I am out $3000 but you are out hundreds of thousands of dollars when contractors will not trust your products since you chose not to do the right thing.***SHAME ON YOU SHAW FOR NOT FIXING YOUR FAILED FLOOR LOCKING PROBLEM.
