Eliminating 1 bathroom door

In a shared hall bathroom upstairs, one of the bedrooms has its own door into the bathroom, making it sort of an en-suite. The other door opens into the hall. I’ve always hated it because the bathroom is too small (5x8) for 2 doors, and the locks are always messed up, like a Jack-and-Jill bath. I don’t see why both room occupants can’t just exit their rooms and take 2 or 3 steps to the bathroom door. The wall space in the bedroom and bathroom would be more valuable to me than the door. Any downside to eliminating it?
