Can you add window trim to a house with metal siding?

My main question is, can you do it without cutting the siding? Is there a way to add it on top?

The answer is always "yes", but what is the cost is the question. If you want to go with "real" PVC trim that is dimensional around the window, you will need to cut the siding back.

You could go with trim on top the siding and apply it with double sided tape. Windows with built in J channel can look odd with trim butted up to them, I would do a mock up before cutting .

My best friend did this on the home they built 15 years ago and then remodelled a couple years ago. They had people come in and use something called dryvit (sounds like drive it) They put up a ridgid foam core and then put "stucco" over it complete with keystones over the windows. Sorry, I don't have any pics of her house. It looks really nice. Here's a pic I found on-line on a quick search

If it was to be made from an actual PVC "type" product like Azek, they'd just make a pattern and cut out of a taller board. That wouldn't necessarily match better than paimted wood though. If cladding is desired, it can be done with the face and returns as separate pieces, however it needs to be done by someone with a high level of skill to come out nice. The "lobster tail" is an option as well, although that is used more often on full half rounds. As for the J, the arch isn't extreme so they may have been able to form that to the opening.

There are a lot of things that can be done but probably shouldn't. If you want to add trim to these windows, the proper way to do so is to cut back the siding. Trying to add something over the top will likely look tacky and probably wouldn't last.
