Hmmm, this is tough because before you know it she'll be a pre-teen, then a teenager, and her taste will radically change from whatever it is now. On the one hand those loft bunk beds might be exciting now and would be cool later too. And they're space efficient - you can put another bed or a desk on the bottom. But maybe by 16 or 17 she'd outgrow that, I'm not sure. My daughter is 16 1/2 and doesn't seem to care much about her room at all anymore. Her years of trying to create a special space for herself there are over. I've even offered to get her a more comfortable bed and, surprisingly, she says "no, I'll be in college in a year and a half, it doesn't matter." The one thing she does need is ample storage, otherwise everything lives on the floor. I just asked my daughter if she thinks they're "too young" for someone her age and she said she doesn't think so, and "they're fun".

Okay- let's talk bedding. I have spent hours searching (online and in stores) and I keep coming back to the RH bedding. So I went back to my store today. They were out of about half of what I needed and wanted so I ordered it (w/ free shipping) and I should have it ALL by the end of the week. Here is what I decided on. 1 King Duvet Cover in the 18th Century Medallion (in link above.) Pacific, so it does have a hint of blue. 2 Matelasse King Euro Shams in Fog (also linked above) 2 Lumbar "accent pillows" in cashmere.. one for each sham. I brought home 2 colors- a gray and an icy blue and need to choose. 1 Matelasse coverlet to act as a blanket- will be between the duvet cover and sheets. ***bought in Eucalyptus which is an icy blue color. The salesman talked me into this and I an really second guessing this for 2 reasons. #1- $179 is a LOT of money for a blanket that might not been seen. I could find a blanket at HomeGoods for $39 that would be fine. #2- *if* I stick w/ it, should I exchange it for Fog (color) so it matches the shams?? I really like the pop of color, but let's say, in the summer time, I decide to let the coverlet show more... wouldn't I want it to match the shams? Or am I trying to be too matchy-matchy??? (a problem of mine.) Wdyt??? Solid choices? I do need to get a king, light weight duvet on order. Any recs? Here's the linen color headboard and variations on a theme :) I switched over to a damask on the valance, tried the light curtains around the inner windows and on the outside of the nook (like the height better in virtual), tried dark panels around the bed, and! dark panels around the bed, lights around the windows and also framing the nook. Sheers are over the windows and the simplicity is soft and perfect (can put inexp rollers behind them for nightime privacy). Doesn't take away from the bed at all :) (I hope you don't have dust allergies with all this fabric!) #1 Linen colored headboard, silver sage all ceilings, wood floors. New silver finish ceiling fan from RH. #2 Linen colored headboard, silver sage all ceilings, wood floors. Damask on headboard valance. New chandy from RH. #3 Darker panels around the bed, with green in them -- offset with a lighter color in the bay. #4 Darker panels around the bed, with green in them -- offset with a lighter color in the bay. Closed, grayer panels. #6 Darker panels around the bed, with green in them -- offset with a lighter color in the bay. Nosoccermom - thanks for posting the pretty beds. I'd love that last one with different finials. Looking at that one makes me realize I really need to check the ceiling height of the bedroom in the new house though - it's so tall! 1929Spanish and outsideplaying - that might be a good idea to take our bed with us and decide later once we get settled in. I'm just on a purging binge and trying to decide what we need to take since we have so much furniture to move and I've read about movers charging by the pound! Really the bed disassembled won't take up much space itself compared to the rest of the furniture, although it is heavy. Pinkmountain - I haven't showed him pictures yet but DH is actually onboard with getting a new bed and he likes the modern, country look that I like. I think he'd be fine with switching out just one piece, just not with spending so much to replace everything with similar quality furniture. He doesn't care for iron beds as much as I do but I think he would like any of the wood ones posted. Upholstered is an interesting idea too.
