I never suggest painting brick, but in your case I am changing my mind. I would paint the brick on the front of the porch to match the siding. I would leave the interior brick alone. I would widen the stairs to be full width of the entry,, hang a base Music of the Spheres wind chime (90" tall - perfectly pitched sound) and a small bench on the non door side.

Regarding the shutters - it's not the color of the shutters - it's that the windows are too wide. Shutters are supposed to look functional even if they aren't functional. They are supposed to look like they can cover the window on which they are placed. They never go on bay windows or triple windows unless they are Bahama type shutters which would be inappropriate for your area and inappropriate for your house. Your house isn't Victorian and would look so much better with an MCM type door or a solid door. The reason others are suggesting a light color for your door is that a brown door creates the "black hole" effect on the face of your house. It's hard to visualize if you are accustomed to seeing the brown, brown, brown that you currently show. There are other neutral, but lighter paints so your front door becomes visible. I agree that the landscaping you have now buries the house and doesn't bring out it's features. I hope you end up with a good landscape plan. Reach out to the landscape forum here too. Nice front entry. Of course, landscaping is key. But looking at porch what struck me is that it needs a more important / beefier hanging light and one without that gold glass. The porch support pillars would look better beefed up too. I would definitely not lime-wash or otherwise paint the stone! Clean it for sure but leave it as it suits the setting of the house which looks a bit rural or woodsy. After it’s cleaned all the trim does need paint but wait on choosing color until you see the clean colors of stone. You don’t show a good shot of front door but that might be an item to update style & color wise.

Hi E Ktz. You asked why folks are saying no to the 2 roof materials. Personally I think it looks cool on some houses, but may not look right on yours. In the inspo pic you posted today, the metal is really just an accent over the porch. That is usually how I see it when roof material is mixed. I’m your original post you said you were thinking of doing it over the garage, which is a huge amount. Literally one half of the house would be metal and the other shingles, it wouldn’t come together and read as one cohesive design but would look like 2 houses pieced together. Really the only place I could see it used as an accent would be over the windows above the garage, but I don’t know how much one would even notice it there.
