If this is a custom line, then they can take a standard panel and a router table and cut the grooves wherever you want them and then finish the panel. If it's not custom, then they aren't set up to do anything outside their production line materials and it's not going to happen unless the installer can cobble it together from outsourced materials as a kludge. Replacing the beadboard with simple skins would be an acceptable substitute. I know this is what you "want", however, as a design statement, the wide beadboard is very very rarely seen used in cabinetry. It's more suitable for wall or ceiling because of the larger expanse of space. When you have a narrow area like the side of a cabinet, narrow details like the narrower beadboard are more suitable visually. You will only get a couple of grooves showing on a cabinet side, and for a cabinet back, it's not worth doing at all as it won't really be visible behind the decorative pieces. So, although this is something that you really wanted, this is an opportunity to rethink that and to maybe mock it up visually to see if it's worth spending any money on. With only 7 grooves being able to be shown on a base cabinet side and maybe 2 on a wall cabinet, this will not be a statement with any visual impact and may look subtly "wrong" rather than "intentional statement".

My kitchen is very similar to yours with white inset shaker perimeter cabinets and a dark island with overlay doors. I used these pulls and knobs on the perimeter cabinets, except for the glass doors: I used these pulls on most of the island: Then for fun I sprinkled in a few of these on upper drawers and doors (pullouts) of the island and the upper glass doors of the perimeter: What counter are you putting on the island? I currently have soapstone (like the perimeter), but they measured it wrong and it needs to be replaced (it's actually smaller than the island cabinetry). So, I'm thinking of taking this opportunity to change it to something different, but can't find anything that I like to go with the existing soapstone.

This is great advice, BUT...what if you and your spouse aren't on same page or timetable. My husband is all about the nuts and bolts of construction, but I am trying to be proactive and get some other decisions made about what he deems more "decorator/cosmetic" type stuff...i.e., cabinetry and interior trim/casing, etc. I tried to tell him the cabinets could have a lengthy lead time depending on what we pick, and that BEFORE we can decide on cabinetry, we have to make a decision on appliances. In other words, we can't plan cabinetry around the 25 year old refrigerator he doesn't want to get rid of until it croaks... We should "plan" for the refrigerator we "want" rather than what we "have". I also want a 36 inch rangetop instead of a 30 inch gas cooktop, and that too has go into the planning. I know he's thinking we'll take a wait and see approach - meaning what we have left $$$-wise and then make appliance decisions, but in the real world it doesn't work that way. I've just run into the same issue with the siding on the house - the plans were drawn with hardie board & batten siding to give the project a fresher mountain farmhouse look. Our GC assumed that meant we wanted to paint the siding after installation because my husband really didn't listen to me when I talked about using a rustic prefinished hardie siding. He thought the "rustic" could just be painted on afterwards, and now is crazed because the GC is telling him the local company that prefinishes the hardie has a 3 month lead time due to their volumes, and the other company that does that type of prefinishing is in Canada and the Pacific Northwest and we'll have high(er) freight charges. It goes back to thinking that "painting" is just "painting" and is a cosmetic thing...

Huge "Thank You" to calidesign, Anne Duke and chocolatebunny...some things I needed to hear AND excellent ideas! Wow. Mega-appreciate the guidance. The rest of the kitchen is fully designed, the counters have been templated and are being made right now and the tile behind the stove (which will be replaced with a stove without a back panel eventually) was hand made and is already purchased. What I"m saying is.....the HARDWARE is my question, not the rest of the design. That is all set in stone, so to speak. Sorry some of you don't like it. Jan and Patricia...thank you for trying to help. We don't want tile all over our walls, paint is SO easy to change, tile is not. Plus it gets really busy looking and we're not into that for the most part. Tile on the floor and a splash of tile on the wall are plenty for us. The example you offered Patricia is just a 180 from our tastes, but it gets your point across. FYI - I'll try to post a DONE pic in about 3-4 weeks.
