I have to agree with Lowspark. I drive a SUV, a big one. I pull a trailer with it in the summer, and it's the only tow vehicle we now own. (So I don't get slammed as I have in the past for driving a gas hog!) That said, I wish I had the back up camera, which was not available when we bought it in 2005. I use my mirrors, I turn and look, but there are blind spots, as there are with ANY vehicle. We do have a back up camera in the motor home. What a God send! DH even added a side view camera, as the glass in the door is a frosted privacy glass. When you come to a diagonal intersection, you can NOT see from the driver's seat to check traffic coming from the right. Normally we are both in it so the other checks traffic, but there are times we need that side view camera, either when only one of us is in it, or when checking traffic at highway ramps. For some reason, people no longer think that they have to yeild when they are the ones entering the highway, they think we have to move over to let them on. Well, I have news for them. Some day they will be buying someone else a new vehicle. There are times you just can't be nice and move over for them! Especially driving a large vehicle, SUV or motorhome as examples. Those cameras are great! You might only use it once in a while, but that one time might save a life or a car,no matter how careful you are. Tami

Sorry Allyson, your comment just came through my notifs. We can't see what is going on over by the window, but is it possible that a small settee and coffee table would suit the space? With the bold desk chair I think adding two more chairs will get very chair-y. But a small settee or loveseat in grey or teal would look lovely!

I have no problem with the difference. White oak is considered and up grade for many reasons. The main reason = fashion. Right now the COOL tones are desirable. And red oak can't give those tones without having a stain applied with green tones (green cancels red). So White Oak is HIGHLY desirable. Now add in the lower AMOUNT of White Oak on the market (it takes a bit more effort to get the product than it does to get red oak which is EVERYWHERE). And now add in a more desirable width = 4". Now we get mark-ups on top of mark-ups on top of mark-ups. All of these 'market pressures' create pinch points in the 'Supply and Demand' chain. A free market economy means you will pay more for something desirable (price of a Mercedes S-Class v. Hyundai Genesis). The more effort it takes to get HOLD of that desirable product adds more money to the product (purchasing one of the 12 of the USA's allotment of a Limited Edition Mercedes SLK Gullwing = SUPER expensive on top of super expensive). Whew! Market pressure has EVERYTHING to do with how much your floor costs. And if you are in an area where White Oak is hard to come by (because the REST of the USA/Canada is eating up the entire supply), then you will be adding even MORE to the product price. I would look at a 3" (3.25" is common) to see if you can save a SNICK on the White Oak without sacrificing the 'look' of the home you want. It is the easiest way to drop the price for the product you want.
