Wait time until painting over oil-based primer?

Ed Rotchford

Used oil-based primer in the bathroom after removing old wallpaper (was told this was the best choice for the job). The fumes (which were horrible the first 4-6 hours!) are still lingering around after 24 hours, and I read somewhere that if I paint too soon that smell will be locked in.

So first, when can I paint?

Second, what can I do to help get rid of the smell, or when can I expect it to go away? (If it doesn’t, should I be looking into a water-based odor killing primer to cover it?)

Third...this is my only full bathroom...any problem being able to run a quick shower somehow during the middle of this process?

(Clearly this is the first time dealing with oil-based primer...starting to regret going down this road)
