Drapery help needed

I had originally chosen neutral beige drapery for my living room but then started doubting my choice. I felt it was too matchy matchy with my furniture and too heavy looking. I brought a white drapery panel from my family room to test out in the space.
What do you think? Is it better?
I still need to fill the blank wall. I'll do that once I figure out my drapery situation :)
Should I remove the beige panels and install white drapery instead?

My vote is definitely for the white panel! The beige is “okay” but the difference between the two is dramatic. White panel looks elegant, expands the room. I think the dark flooring and your blue accents in rug and art are also complemented much more by the white panel.

I found the below online for you, which may help. Where are you ordering the fabric from? They may be able to guide you. Basic Drapery Panels To figure yardage for basic drapery panels, you will need the cut length (finished length + allowance for your desired hem and rod pocket size NOTE: Our workroom adds 16") x the number of panels you are making.If your selected fabric has a repeat, you will need 1 panel at the regular cut length and then you will need to add the number of inches in the repeat to each additional panel. Examples using standard 84" finished length panels: *Change the number of inches added for hems and rod pockets, as well as repeats, to suit your needs* Fabric with a 27" repeat: 1st panel - 84" + 16" = 100" 2nd & additional panels - 84" + 16" + 27" = 127" x 2 panels = 227" (6.30 yards / 7 yards to be safe) x 3 panels = 354" (9.83 yards / 10 yards to be safe) x 4 panels = 481" (13.36 yards / 14 yards to be safe) NOTE: If you are making panels for additional windows, the number of inches in the repeat must be added to ALL remaining panels to continue matching them all to the very first panel.

I would cover all 3 windows with the same fabric and hang at the same height. This approach keeps an even sight line around the room. While you don't "have" to sew panels together, it will give the drapes a more finished look, hems will be even,etc. Lots of readers will suggest area rugs better than me. I would prioritize the rug first though. Pretty room.

I would go with new shades and possibly curtain panels. No valances. Do you need blinds for privacy? If so, I would update them with a natural blind or shade. You may put up new shades and decide you don't need any other treatments for the windows. Keep in mind that if you use panels you are probably going to need at least two panels per side, if not they will look skimpy. The windows will be partially covered.

Thank you so much for your comments and suggestions:) I am actually now thinking of doing roller shades and two decorative side panels, I think this look would go best without blocking windows too much. My next questions are what size panels should I get to frame the window so they don’t look too narrow for size of window and the 96” height? Should I get the rod to extend the entire length of the wall to simulate functional look? If I just do too smal decorative rods on each side would this not look odd? Your response is much appreciated!

I think they both look great, so up to you. I would even experiment with using both the white and the beige, alternating the 4 panels.

For the “blank wall”, how about a bar and a tall plant?

take the plant you have in the window and put it next to the cart. (Take the plant your have on the coffee table and put it in a plant stand in the window.)

If you want to gussy up the bar car area, you could add a mirror over the bar cart — depending on what kind of bar cart it is

If you’ve got money to splurge, this behind the floor lamp, then a bar in the center of the wall, then the plant in the window next to the bar might be nice

Because of the big abstract painting over the sofa, I think if you want to go with artwork on the “blank” wall, it should be black and white photos (art photos, not family photos). I think architectural elements photos might be particularly nice.
