Lynn - the dogs love him (Shelties seem totally intrigued by cats), GrayC ignores him, and Jack can't stop watching him. No mad playing yet but I expect it to happen quickly. He and Jack will be buddies, I'm sure. The new guy is settled in enough so that he's running, dashing, skittering and all the other adorable stuff that kittens do. He's been dragging even the dog's big stuffed toys around, growing to himself over the stuggle. I think that once he is allowed out in the screen room, the lizard population will plummet. I had a Siamese as a child so I was sort of looking for one. When I saw this Siamese mix with the Big Foot I couldn't resist. I drove up to Jacksonville to get him! If anyone is interested, he has an identical brother and a crazy little sister who is tabby striped in gray and peach. I've never seen a cat with her coloring before and she's just beautiful. Both of the siblings have the toes too. Many of the cats in Key West are polydactyl and are referred to as Hemingway cats . (If he were female, Polly Dactyl would be a great name. Maybe Paulie Dactyl???) They are common enough so that you can even do a search on that save-a-pet site for Hemingway/Polydactyl cats. There was a fluffy black poly cutie listed in Orlando but the foster people never responded to my email about that one. Coupla times im my life, I've been able to sit on my hair. One of the times I said I was going to cut, DH said 'Whoa, Nelly!' I explained that he had No Idea what work long hair took, and he could have a say in the matter if he washed, combed out, and braided my hair for 7 days... (insert evil grin). We all know washing is a 'walk in the park'. Combing out takes training and patience and remembering to Start At The Ends! So, three days he did well with all of the requirements, but he begged off braiding. By day five he said 'Okay, I GET it. Do what you want...' I've had my hair long coupla times past that. I went to Colorado for four weeks and took care of my moms farm in mid-summer during the 112* days. I promised myself I would NEVER COMPLAIN about the weather again, and that I wouldn't handicap myself either. I donated 12 inches of hair to Locks of Love; they bound it near the length I was certain I wanted to go back to. They bound and cut, right there. Oooop, toooo late now! I've found good products for lift, and understand how my 32 cow licks work, and explain that style HAS to be cut in on my head. Yes. It's referred to as the Peach-faced Lovebird in my Crossley ID guide but called Rosy-faced Lovebird on eBird. I read that some self-sustaining populations have been established in the southwest (taken from the Project Feeder Watch link I have attached) and there are many reported sightings of them in AZ (taken from eBird data). I also have not received any seeds. I've seen no effort on Olivia's part to contact me. For what it is worth, I have participated in quite a few swaps within this community before and have always found them worth taking the chance...sometimes fantastically so. However, I walked into the swaps recognizing that it IS taking a chance, especially if someone is a first-timer at facilitating a swap, as in this case apparently. I don't plan to stop participating in swaps in the future, but find it wise to gamble no more than I can afford to lose.
