Thanks for the feedback. I really don't know why I am having so many issues/problems making decisions for this bathroom. Perhaps because we started serious DIY renovations on this 70's house 6 years ago, were going to add an addition for this BR and had hired and started to pay a design/builder who we basically fired after receiving an estimate of $70K to frame a 210sq ft addition! I think I went through a grieving process at losing my dream bathroom (life intervened, and we ended up helping our son buy his first home), and it took me over a year to actually get this project moving. So, good news, I just handed over my Visa, and I'm getting the Riobel system in brushed nickel with thermostatic valve and volume control! Emco also carry the Moen Iso line, so I'm getting all my BR accessories in brushed nickel too at less than the HD price in chrome, so I'm one happy camper. I went to a plumbing supply store, and asked them to give me a quote to compare apples to apples...so she knew without my saying so, that I had gone to another showroom. When I rec'd the quote this morning, it was lower for all items except the main valve, which was higher by $22. I told her it was good, except for the one valve, and she met that price. I wasn't pushy or demanding, just honest. I hope to be able to share that the Riobel system works great! Supposed to be very good, and I like the idea that it is a Canadian company, made in Canada, and I don't have to worry about shipping, duty and having to deal with a foreign company if problems occured... Glad I didn't have to give up volume control, my Brushed Nickel finish (which in some lines was going to be exorbitant), or my thermostatic valve! On to the next..gotta pick between two colours of my limestone lookalike porcelain tile...

The differences are: One volume control plus diverter (depending on which diverter chosen) is you can operate any combination of the three fixtures independently or any combination of any two together, but at the same volume as the control is set to. Advantage, is lower price of material, less rough in work, less openings in shower wall. Disadvantage, more rough in work, less overall control. Having three volume controls will allow each fixture to be controlled independently so you can have all three fixtures on at once and be controlled at any volume setting independent of each other. Advantage, better overall control. Disadvantage, higher price due to one more fixture needed and more rough in work, one more opening in shower wall. In the end, more openings in shower wall can be dealt with easily so it's just a matter of cosmetics. Also the rough in work isn't much more when adding another fixture, therefore it's a minor disadvantage.

Also have the grohe. I was talked into the thermostatic by the sales person. It's okay, but I could have lived without it. She described it as a must have, but I honestly don't see the big whoopee. Also, I found I couldn't get really cold water or super hot water out of my faucet once it was installed. Maybe this was an installation error, but we like freezing showers in the summer and super hot baths in winter.

Hi, The valves and diverter under the "shower trim" between the rainshower and handheld shower fixture are complicated. You many want to consult with a plumber or the 800 number for the manufacturer of the fixture you are considering. I am in the process of trying to figure out Brizo on this same matter. But as to brands, Kohler and Delta are commonly recognized as very good US brands. I ended up replacing Moen fixtures in my former house , with which I had lots of issues, with Kohler. Never had any problems with Kohler, but it is expensive. We have moved and we have switched to Delta and its high end version, Brizo, both of which have very good reputations. But even with the better brands, you have to examine each collection---a lot are making "cheap" versions and higher end versions. Look at the weight, where screws are placed, how long the lever is, etc. Ordering for the second time the Hansgrohe 27474 w/ 10" round spray, It is expensive, but wonderful as to pressure, maintenance and effect. As to the shower spray, we loved the Flip, but will need a hose (metal 70 vs 72 ") a sliding bar and a connector to water. We are goiing use Kohler on this again. Good luck. Remember Chrome is timeless and cheaper, Check out Delta Asa(using Moen towel trims) and Virage ---really funking in chrome---schulptural with a twist. Check out Build.com for best prices.
