I love a white house. I think I would consider a yellow door or a red door. Your house is cottagey to me. What state are you in? I don't know if I would do Bahama shutters b/c they wouldn't let much light in, right? You could do dark green shutters. Or a teal/turquoise greenish/bluish shutters. I don't think you need to be too serious with your house. It is nice cottage and can be a bit playful. How about painting the porch ceiling a sky blue?

This is a recommended color from SW for Mindful Gray…homburg gray. I would do this on the shutters and the garage doors and leave the wood door as is. The two middle windows shouldn’t have shutters as the won’t fit appropriately, but you are not painting the siding and the darker outlines of the shutters will show if you don’t replace what was there. Personally, would like the house with out shutters and would probably paint the siding and garage doors and have no shutters at all.

Thank you all so much for your comments! Just to clarify... I have black louvered shutters on all windows on the front of the house (as shown in the 2nd photo). The first photo shows how it looks since we have removed a few shutters for repair and paint prep. I have seen a lot of tone on tone or lighter colored shutters and began wondering if my black w/white siding on top of multi-color old brick looked too dated. The back of the house has 4 casement windows (upper) and 2 lower. We have never had shutters on these. I noticed that my photos - front and back yard - look almost mirror-image! But that was just a coincidence. Thanks again to you all! Picking out paint colors is tougher than it looks! :)

I would be painting the siding the color of the brick. I wouldnt be painting the brick. Its pretty, and I would change my mind on shutter color, if you are going to keep the shutters, please try to color match them to the door. Not darker, nor lighter. Your stain on the door appears to be a charcoal, and not black.
