Help finding cohesive colors for new home
Comments (12)The stone is gray and gray is neutral. If you like it, don't paint it. Gray stone could go in a variety of design schemes: Coastal- rocks on the coastline; Rustic Mountain or Lakehouse; Zen gray neutral/ minimalism-natural stone; Euro Cottage -traditional & quaint- stone chimney/ hearth; Tropical.... Take a look at the link to the model homes-get your ideas in mind FIRST and then shop within that mindset. This link shows over 50 model homes of various transitional style color schemes https://tours.stevenjamescollins.com IMHO, Homegoods is good for when you are shopping for accents with a color plan in mind, not so great to get ideas as you might be tempted for every trend they sell. . Z Gallerie has a wide selection of wall art. Their pillows, are pricey, but with a little Internet search, you can find the same fabric and make your own. Perhaps my Kirkland's had a narrow stock supply, but I found their wall art limited. However, do shop in the clearance section for framed pieces. I found 4 (26x32 inch) framed wall art pieces that had driftwood wood frames in the clearance section for $20each. Frames of that size would be well over $100.. I removed Kirkland'sbrown board backing and the image inside and replaced them with giclee prints that I ordered on-line. I used a staple gun to close the back of the frame. The hardest part was using pliers to remove the Kirkland's staples that secured the backing.. The prints I chose were selling at Ethan Allen store for $300 each!!...See MoreNeed Help! Comments (31)Lucas, you have some decent furniture to work with. I think you need some fine tweaking, color and some art work for the walls. Or some wood shelves and a bit of life via plants. (that half dead corn plant doesn't count! lol) here's an arrangement w/your desk under the window. your walls need some extra help. for example, look at this soft sage/gray wall color. would look nice w/your wood furniture, chair and your rug. Here's how to position the desk under the window. I like this w/floating wood shelves over the desk. if you move the desk back to the other wall, try a new wall color maybe an accent wall, Or something a bit more masculine, try BM Kendall Charcoal. bring in some other wood shelves (can you DIY? go to the lumbyard and get some walnut boards. cut to size. float them w/lag bolts or grab some brackets of some sort) I like the dark wall color w/a soft white for the other walls. have you seen the DIY wood shelves w/the iron pipe fittings? you could easily make up something like that for the walls. another layout floating the desk in the center. chair in the corner, bookcase on the one wall. can you install a semi flush mount light in the center? How about some artwork or photographs? your walls are very empty. you have anything w/a bit of color? I think if you did that one wall in a dark color like the green or this black, maybe hung some pendants like this, did a cabinet in one corner w/a nice plant on top, it would look nice. perhaps this type of set up. you can do some simple DIY bookcases. look at Ikea BillyBookcase hack. (see links below) you could easily copy these shelves. even on a smaller/thinner level, painted dark like this, would look perfect in your office. center light, rug, wall decor. maybe a glass door?? https://www.southernrevivals.com/office-makeover-reveal-ikea-hack-built-billy-bookcases/...See MoreCohesive colored kitchen
Comments (9)Lighting in there is good, although I probably could use some updated lighting fixtures. We bought this house off of older folks who I don't think had updated it since the early 80s, so we've been doing little by little as we can. I LOVE the green color and would like to keep it. I told my husband I'd paint all of the rooms this color if I could. I have a runner to the left, you just can't see it in the pictures, my back door is over there so we have a brownish runner to catch all the mud. You guys made me feel much better. Thanks! Let me know if you want to help me throw around ideas for my half bath. Lol it's terrible!in the picture you can see the runner, and curtains I hung to cover my washer and dryer....See MoreColor cohesiveness help
Comments (5)What does your laundry have to do with your master bath? Nothing, unless it is IN that master bath.. Can blue and green be used in same house ? Absolutely. Your buggy is ahead of the horse. Post the remodel P.l.a.n. That is the walls, the layout, etc of what you are doing, especially if moving walls. That means what is the kitchen plan, the bath plan etc. and as they relate and are located within your living space. You are way, way way out over your skis: )...See MoreJoan Bensoussan
