Help me choose my countertops and backsplash!!
Comments (6)Terible (I feel funny writing that name ;-) ) - We wanted the bling to come in through the granite. That's why either Bianco Antico or Cafe Imperial appeals to me - they have sparkle. I was also considering mini crystal chandeliers as pendants for a more luxurious aspect. The kitchen opens up to the family room which we are redecorating (new furniture, paint, carpet, etc) when we redo the kitchen. Family room: Here's some other pics of rooms in our home, to give you an idea of our style. Most of our rooms still need more furniture and accessories. We're also lacking colour which we'll eventually add through artwork and accesories. I'm a minimalist but not THAT much of a minimalist!! Comments (14)I have also been lurking here and absorbing lots of great advice. I'm very interested to hear suggestions on this, as we're also getting seafoam green granite. I was waiting for the cabinets to be done and granite installed before asking for suggestions as pictures definitely help. Our cabinets will be a medium tone stain. This granite is kind of "in between" as far as pattern goes. Not nearly as much movement as say, Bordeaux, but not evenly uniform, so you can't get too carried away with a fancy backsplash. I was thinking maybe matte subway tile, but wanted some sort of decorative element too. I love the look of glass tile, but it may not be right for a traditional kitchen. Meg, great seafoam slabs! Those are have really nice color and pattern....See MoreChoosing backsplash to match cabinets and countertops
Comments (35)granted it is hard to match white....but i would stay just one pigment saturation level away from light. In other words you can tilt toward taupe, beige, gray but stay light in the intensity. There is a lot of dark with floors...the ceilings are not high, even with skylight...and you have plentiful amt of upper cabinets. keep the backsplash light...does not have to be boring, but I would lean to more light tonality. Have you thought of two themes?.....that secondary area left of fridge keeps calling out as in placing decorative inserts or pencil strip..something like that [small and subtle]...if the work area perimeter was just basic subway field tile. [Re white:Don't assume you can't find the right white-can be nice too if you are ruthless-your white theme really works so far]...See Morecountertop with cream cabinets kitchen and backsplash advice please!
Comments (31)If you like blue, you might try using a blue gray finish on your island cabinets only? It seems like so many try to attain a finished kitchen that reminds one of the old sienna color photographs. No one really wants to live in shades of brown and gray all over the world. That can be monotonous. I really like the backsplash slocoja shared in her photo. I bit of shiney is really pretty with the silver chrome appliances, but maybe limit it to one or 2 lines thru the center of your backsplash, and than use the choice for your countertops in the backsplash. I think you might enjoy that more long term. Especially since you have so many different heights of window frames, cabinet trim, lines of molded cabinet doors and vertical lines in your windows... Do a couple of lines of your silver, or even a dusty blue or blue gray even if you can find it(goes with any other color you can think of for the next 3 decades, like blue jeans do? LOL) if you like that amongst the backsplash which matches your counter top, and let your island be the color you have planned in your picture if so... That way your eyes won't tire of all the movement in the kitchen, so many angles on your backsplash, the reflection etc.. I would do it at the height that splits your outlets in half, one to 3 lines of horizontal mini tiles. Very pretty!!...See MoreLisa
