Looks like my first cuttings have rooted, so now what?
Comments (5)I agree with jperilloux, just because your cutting has a few leaves doesn't mean it's fully rooted. I had a Maui Beauty that I took out of my pot because it was wrinkled an I couldn't save it, it had several leaves (maybe 5+ on each branch) an it didn't hardly have any roots at all. My Bill Moragne cutting that I planted back in April has 5+ 6-7 inche leaves, but yet it's roots are starting to grow, they're small, no way near a full root ball. Also if you took it out of the pot, you could disturb the tiny fragile young roots. On plumeria101 site, it says it takes about 90 days (3 months) to form a full root ball. Since you just got yours June 5th, they have only been rooting over a month, if you think they need watering or if the dirt is dry, mist the top of the cuttings or water around the rim of the pot sparingly....See MoreHappy Thanksgiving to all my wonderful GW friends
Comments (26)Happy Thanksgiving! It's shivery here, with no power since Monday night and uncharacteristically cold temps outside. Thank goodness for the gas rangetop. And we now hear chainsaws down the road, hopefully getting the tree of the lines. 9 of the 10 of us are here, and the 10th is happily situated with another big family who is sharing their holiday with her...and we're all well and safe...so we count our many blessings. Wishing you all a warm and safe and love-filled day....See MoreAre all Houzz questions now x-posted to GW?
Comments (12)Hi All! Thanks for posting and providing feedback on the crossposting. Houzz does not do this automatically, each poster selects which categories their post should go to, and some may be better at this than others. When you see something that doesn't belong, please flag it and our team can take a look and help out. There may be a learning curve for some folks to understand the best places for each kind of discussion, but hopefully, overall, this change should result in more help for everyone. People that have been around for a long time, like some of you, are excellent guides for new people when you model how the forums work and we really appreciate that! Please don't hesitate to reach out or use that handy flag button when you need to as everyone learns....See MoreHello again to all my GW pals out there...
Comments (9)Oh Joe, you remind me so much of myself. Every time something stressful happened in my life, I went out and whacked up the yard. Last year, when I was POd at my older son, I literally hung on a banana plant to pull it down so I could saw it off, then dug up the corm and gave it away, because it had nubs on it that I knew would turn into new trees for someone. Once in North Port, when I was faced with losing my house, I went and took out nearly the entire back hedgerow, and made a pile so high and long that it used up my entire yard trash allotment for the year. After that, I had to stuff as much as I could into my 4 large garbage cans and several 5-gallon buckets every week so they'd haul it off. It's very cathartic to whack things down. I can't blame you for wanting to lighten your load, but someone may have come and gladly dug up that Valencia pride. Too bad it had to go. I'm facing some pretty heavy yard work ahead myself, as I've decided to move to Mexico next year when my lease is up. Can't take the plants with me, so they all have to go, hopefully to happy homes. I may have a "dig up the yard" party this winter and let my GW friends take what they want. You could never bore us. Life is crazy and relationships are hard. I'll always love you both, and hope you do find the woman of your dreams. I know how tough it is being alone, which is one reason I want out of here and am off for another country. I thought Gainesville would be my saving grace, and it's turned into my worst nightmare, so I'm off to live la vida loca! Might as well enjoy that last few years of my life....See Moredeanna in ME Barely zone 6a, more like 5b
