What light fixtures would "update" this kitchen? It's not mine but it needs to get sold so I have promised to help the owner with picking fixtures. I am just stuck because I am not a big fan of the cabinets

Personally, I think they're beautiful and maybe expensive. Is that a ceiling beam? house at all rustic with stone fp or ..?

Hold on !!! Jeeeeeeessh! Take pictures of all of your spaces in DAYLIGHT. Clean up all the clutter first, meaning the remains of the meal just eaten. Now.......What is the feel you want in your home? Can't guess from the light you have now which aren't a great marriage. Got an inspo pic of a dining are you love? Is it colorful, neutral, modern , a bit rustic? what? What is the size of the dining table? Also... before you hang anything over that table, which MAY be positioned in the wrong direction as we can't tell from that picture.........the recessed need to go bye bye. Sorry.......yes as in out. Do some homework first : )

First choose LEDs if good lighting is the aim. I usually like ones you can change th bulb but the newer integrated ones seem to be pretty good I have this one in my bedroom and it is awesome foe overall light but you have to remeber ceiling lights are only one level of lighting in a space you still need table lamps maybe amix of table and floor lamps .
