When I saw your post, I immediately thought of the newest issue of Better Homes and Gardens. They have a section dedicated to palettes. The reddish brown town they have pictured is BM Raisin. The colors they've picked to "go" are: BM Natural Wicker OC-1 - "A warm neutral for large pieces." Jamaican Aqua 2048-60 "Adds the pop. Match small upholstered pieces and pillows to this hue." Raisin 1237 "Try this reddish brown on trim, using a semigloss finish." Porter Ranch Cream 148 "With a hint of peach, this cream takes the starkness out of white ceilings." Intense Peach 081 "A warm shade that's like a comforting blanket on walls. If you're color-shy, limit it to a feature wall." Also, Benjamin Moore is coming out with full spectrum paints (like Ellen Kennon). They've only got it available at 5 retailers now, but will be rolling it out this year. I'll post a link. Good Luck! The light fixture is the only piece with a "personality" and that's going to go, so I can't tell how contemporary or classic your taste is. This is still a nearly neutral canvas to make a masterpiece upon. Red and green are complimentary and they do work, but the room is still too stark. How about a stencil band of red along the edge of the green walls, about 2 inches from the edge? If you could also add some items into the mix, that would help--a fabric that uses the red and green, some houseplants with pots that put these colors onto the countertop, towels and washcloths, stool cushions, silicone spatulas, fruit bowl. Rugs are a good idea. Paint the legs of a stool or chair? Get some brightly colored croton plants [strong colored leaves] to put near the kitchen. You might also want to introduce a strong mustard yellow, if that's a good color for you. There are a lot of linens with this combo--I just saw plaid napkins with large checks of these colors marketed at Tuesday Morning store as "Christmas merchandise." If that's a recessed refrig. with a flat panel above it, consider a fairly substantial work of art over it, with your colors in it. I'd avoid white in the printed fabrics and art pieces, I think, but I reserve the right to change my mind. Can you use a reddish-value light? There are a lot of interesting ones, including some with reddish glass mosaics in them. For example, Elk lighting has some good ones.

I bought 5 samples today, one of them was a white for trim so just 4 for the walls. After considering what I already have, I decided to pick ones that had different undertones. As an example, I didn't get Horizon, b/c it's so close to Paper White, and i have that color in two rooms in my current house. It's pretty, but it definitely reads blue. I think this is partly due to my trim being Snowfall White, which is very close to Simply White. I think with a truer white it might appear a little more gray, although still cool. I ended up with Intense White, which is actually what I had wanted to use in one room instead of the Paper White. Also got Shoreline 1471, which reads a little more gray than Horizon, although I feel like the purple will come out I wanted to make sure. Also got Classic Gray ElleN, I'm going to give it one more shot. And Swiss Coffee, b/c my sample is so old for that one. I feel like with what I have and the new, I should definitely be able to come up with something. I buy these small flat canvases at Walmart in a 3 pack and they work amazing for paint samples. I have found that even foam board can curl pretty easily, and I'm not a fan of painting directly on the wall anymore, have screwed that up too many times. ElleN I agree Halo is very green, so I don't think it will do me any favors. And Gray Mist is not a very fun color, but I can't believe it looked so yellow on your walls. I think you're right, they might have mixed something wrong. Here's a couple of pics of our old kitchen with it. It was a great neutral with the floors, cabinets and countertops.
