New Electrolux Compact Washer & Dryer versus Miele
Comments (21)We got a chance to see the Electrolux yesterday. Thank you, whirlpool trainee. Your link encouraged us to travel to see the pair. Unfortunately the scented gasket makes it a non-option for me (Contacted Electrolux; they do not offer a non-scented option.) If the gasket were unscented, I would have gone with the pair. Lowes has it on sale for $899 each and offers an extended 5 year warranty. From the review I read, the condenser jug needs to be emptied every second or third cycle unless you direct drain the dryer, which is an option. There is a condensing filter, located at the bottom, front of the machine which also needs rinsing frequently -- consideration for people who have trouble getting on bended knee; you might plan a pedestal set-up. The reviewer stated that a normal load took an average of two (gulp) hours to dry. Hubby and I have decided that we'll continue to air-dry what we can to save on our ever-increasing electric bill since whatever we buy will be a condensing dryer. Not much reported on the washer other than it offers a lot of options and steam and it is 2.4 cubic feet -- largest of the compacts. It has an on-board heater like the Miele (also 110v). Though it is NSF certified, I didn't check whether it meets the more stringent of the two certifications. From the owner's manual I was unsure of when the on-board heater was activated; clearly during the sanitary cycle, but I couldn't tell if it heats water for a HOT load or just takes straight hot house water. But then, Miele isn't any help there either; if it weren't for rococogurl I wouldn't have a clue as to what my Miele is doing behind the scenes. We really liked the looks and feel of the pair and were disappointed to come home empty-handed....See MoreNew Electrolux Washers & Dryers
Comments (152)I was fortunate enough to see the 617 which our local mega dealer has on the floor. I am in NE Ohio. This machine certainly has eye catching appeal, and I don't get why no big box retailer dedicates floor space or stocks locally. Without seeing, touching, comparing, few buyers will purchase sight unseen. IMO the 70 series was feature laden with specialty cycles and stain treat options and a fantastic 3 slot custom memory. I get the impression Lux chucked the otherwise difficult to navigate interface of the 70 series, simplfied popular options, and gave it an overhaul chic appeal! It appears to be a very well built machine and drum looks to be identical to the 70 series. I am not so much sold on the detergent pre-mixing tank, especially if your a powered detergent or pod user. My concern is does the machine fill through the tank and effectively flush between uses, or is there a potential to have crud residue, and stench built up? Its difficult to differentiate between detergent and water in the sump, and sprayed on the load during fill as many machines do. The only advantage I see to the Lux system is perhaps a more complete mixing of detergent and water applied to the load uniformly. You could always bypass it and add product directly to the drum. My only other peeve is the display is not back lit and difficult to see, but not a deal breaker by any means. My overhaul impression is this machine is a winner and will have no problem compeating, that is providing the retailers allocate floorspace. It offers top tier features and P172 certificaton, at a price point (899.00) that is several hundred dollars less than the competion. I will look forward to actual usage reports....See MoreMiele W1/T1 Washer & Dreyr
Comments (1090)Yes. If you haven't already figured this out, there are numbers of how-to-do-it posts here starting with the "Featured Answer" at the top of this thread. Because Houzz displays only part of the Featured Answer, you want to click on the faint "read more" line to get Houzz to display the rest of that detailed post by Luna123456. Also, there are something like 1.1k additional posts in this thread, most of which are not initially displayed. On my computer, I have to display all the posts before I can do a full search of the thread. Houzz makes you look below the "Featured Answer" to find the fine print which currently reads "see 1037 more comments." You may have to click a "See more comments" several times to get Houzz to display all of the posts. Then you can do a terms search (CTRL-F calls up a search box on MS Windows computers.) That will get you the posts with recommendations on specific brands of detergents and oxy liquids to use with DIY refilling....See MoreOur new Speed Queen FF7 front load washer - observations
Comments (27)" During the spin cycles it shook so violently that it started "walking." I had to push on it/hold it during the spin so it would not walk off the pad." I have not had this happen in two years of owning our SQ FL. I know nothing about installation because our vendor always installs for us. Our machine recently made some really loud noises when the load was unbalanced --- only two items: a heavy looped cotton bath mat & toilet mat on the spin cycle. I knew better, but had a senior moment when I ran that load with just two pieces. But the machine didn't move or walk (and IKWYM about "walking"....old top load machines would do that, too) I paused the machine to add a terrycloth towel to provide more weight distribution for balance, and then the machine was happy....See MoreMark
