Has anyone tried mixing in weathered oak to cool down red oak?

Hello! I, like so many others, am facing the conundrum of achieving a not-too-warm medium brown stain on my red oak floors. I like provincial, but it reads a little warm for my taste. I tried some mixes with classic gray, but it makes the color dull-looking, IMO. I’ve read that mixing in weathered oak can achieve a similar cooling effect, so I’m thinking of 50/50 weathered oak with provincial, special walnut, or dark walnut. Does anyone have experience with mixing weathered oak and/or pictures to share?
