Comments (9)Planto, Let me start over, your a wise Woman (typoðÂÂÂ) Ok, so now I have to ask, what is your first name, that would solve all this Man stuff lol.. ( 1st name is optional.) You know I actually went to H/D this morning just to check out the size of these containers and now I'm positive, they are 15 US GALS. the prices have gone up considerably. ð² Nametaken, Yup! That's exactly what I remember too and that seemed like a lot, the only place I see them that high is at the beach or at ROGERS GARDENS, maybe they dropped them off at the wrong place ð 0r something ð¯ Well guy's and GIRLS... ð have a wonderful day, Greg...See MoreBuying Tiles/Flooring from Home Depot/Lowes: Any Cons?
Comments (9)I've bought a lot of items from both Home Depot and Lowe's over the years. I've found them to be customer oriented, easy to do business with, and they carry a wide assortment of products. I've had doors installed, carpet installed, bought appliances, tons of tools, hardware, you name it. I'm looking at vinyl tiles at both stores right now, and carpet at Lowe's. I pay close attention customer reviews. Other than that, I have noticed that they carry a wide price range of items within a product line, to suit what their customers want. In researching the vinyl tiles, I've noticed that H.D.'s store brand has a lot of excellent reviews. I have also noticed that both stores have the bottom of the line, inexpensive varieties that have problems. But I think that's more because of the PRICE and not because it's at H.D. or Lowe's. Some of the vinyl tiles have complaints that the top layer will scratch off, pieces not be squared, the tiles iwthin a box won't match in pattern, etc. So I think if you inspect in person, and buy something that is not the bottom of the line, it should be fine (paying attention to customer reviews). I don't know about ceramic tile, but for vinyl tile, I was able to buy a single tile, or pick up a sample, and take them home for color inspection, and scrape them with a knife to test for durability. The one thing that surprises me, but which I think is the case, is that if there is a manufacturing defect, and the tile has been installed, I'm not so sure the big box stores will credit you. They may serve only as an agent with the manufacturer for you. You'd have to check on that, since I'm not sure. But then all stores would be this way. I love the big box stores. So easy to do business with them....See MoreKitchen Cabinet Repaint with Cabinet Coat
Comments (23)@Laura Holland Thanks so much for the update. I am very glad you found someone to do a post-catalyzed conversion varnish on your cabinetry. That's the standard for finish longevity. How utterly horrible that the contractors have already messed it up. Yes, repairs are very difficult with the 2-part coatings. They absolutely should have been much more cautious. It's somewhat hard to mar a 2-part finish, so they must have been really careless. It sounds like you may have gotten the satin finish of the INSL-X. I have heard the semi-gloss is significantly more durable. If you do have it re-done, I wouldn't go with any Benjamin Moore products again. Find someone who can do Milesi, Renner, or ICA-Ilva. All three of those would be superior, but they may need to be sprayed as most formulations from those companies dry fast, and the 2-part formulas provide the most hardness and chemical resistance. Many people have reported finish failures with Advance even with a Stix Primer. INSL-X is a step above Advance based on my research. In fact, INSL-X is actually made by the same people who make Stix. Benjamin Moore bought the company....See MoreNeed to see more of my house: pruning advice needed!
Comments (9)If it is privet then it will be difficult to kill so cut back as described but be prepared to repeat the work every month during the growing season to keep them down to size. If it isn't or you like the idea of small trees then you could arborize them, basically cut out the small stuff and limb them up into small trees. It is fun and creative to carve a tree out of an overgrown shrub, if you choose to do it then start with the shrub that matters least to get the hang of which sort branches to trim. Cut the ones hitting the house and drooping down in the path, be sure to leave some crotches so it looks more like a tree and so on. Once done you may decide to you don't need so many 'trees' then remove ones you don't want. A good pruning saw costs about $20 and will take down those shrubs easily. Love my Corona Razor Tooth, just took out half a dozen 1-2" bamboo culms yesterday with it and I'm not a strong professional gardener....See MoreMatt 6a Boston
