Spring weather has been wonderful in Essex County. We were in the 80s the other day. All the trees have budded and are that pretty green, magnolias and spring flowers are in bloom. Dandelions everywhere. We are expecting a thunderstorm today so that will put an end to the magnolias.

We've been having quite the mild and gentle spring. We are just a tad shy on rain, but we have some coming soon. In between, we've had some spectacular days of temps in the 60s with sun. Lovely!

We've had a mild Winter and an unusual Spring for Wi, Loving it but we could still have a snow storm into May.

Spring here has been good so far, no surprises, adequate moisture and moderate temps mostly. The pine trees here are locked and loaded ready to let loose their yellow snow.

Coastal Carolina is great. My flower beds are popping their heads out. The weather is great, 80’s most days. Great for us with ocean breeze.

Another drought year ahead because we didn't get enough rain this winter. That could mean another bad fire season this summer. The weather has been warmer than usual and all the flowers bloomed early.

Went from debilitating ice storm to flooding. We're on alert for tornadoes today, and had some last week. I'm ready for quiet.

We have had it all just in the last couple of months--ice storm, sleet, snow, tornadoes, torrential rains, flash flooding. Falling limbs during the ice storm put 4 holes in my metal roof and broke a window. I am also ready for calm and quiet.

North of Chicago: Too warm, too early. Too dry. We did have good snow cover, but I see cracks in the earth where it was dry enough last summer for weeds to take over the stressed lawn. We've seen people kayak down the raging creek beside our house in earlier springs. Today there's barely enough water for returning ducks to paddle without scraping bottom.

Pretty normal temps, but dry. We had almost no rain this winter.

Warmed up into the high 70s early then went into the deep freeze, 4 F just long enough to destroy fruit tree blooms along with other plants even into the Deep South. The ground was too dry to even dig into but the rain the past couple of weeks has loosened it a bit. Since Wednesday have had just over 2 inches of rain. Just enough for flooding but too quick to sink into the ground except in pools. Have had my first peony bloom a week earlier than last year. This summer will be very interesting.

Spring? What's that?

And already in serious drought conditions. I forget exactly how far below normal our rainfall is, In fact, I can't remember when we last had actual rain.

Rusty

It's been alternating between cool/cloudy/rainy and warm and sunny here recently. Pretty normal. Farmers were out planting corn last week when we had a dry spell. That's a week or two earlier than normal. The rain in the last few days will put a stop to that for awhile but it looks like it will dry out again pretty soon.

My asparagus has awakened and I harvested the first spear yesterday. Many more 2" spears and dozens more were just emerging. Looking forward to the first grilled homegrown gus. I need to go check for more spears to harvest this afternoon when the rain has stopped.

All last week were in the upper 70's for six days in a row. Everything is blooming and many are liking it. Not me. It signifies climate change in a big way because every year we have no seasons. I was born and raised within an hour where I live now and springs were lovely with cool sunny days and cool night, winters were cold with snow and if it ever hit 100 in the summer, it was news. Now it's ho-hum. We had a drought last year going into this year and had a wet spring. Last year at least the spring was wet followed by the drought. This year we didn't even have that. I dread summer.

It's been rather cool here near the beach, with temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s. I think January and February were warmer. We're going to Palm Springs next week-end for six weeks, and it will be much warmer there, which will be a nice change. Our pool in Cathedral City is already in the upper 70s (with no added heat), and so it is warmer than the air temperature here.

Just about everything....too heavy snow...too warm...too much rain....back to too cold and not

enough rain. Right now...it is chilly and raining, but we need the rain badly, so that is ok.

Ever since February it has been anyone's guess.

Dare I say not enough rain! I'm in BC Canada in the rainforest on this side of the border. Not happy about that.

Otherwise love love love the milder temperatures right now.

My garden fairy is doing a very good job this year. My Erica Kramer's red is blooming beautifully and making me smile.

Everything is blooming. It's so pretty here. It was in the 80s yesterday but raining today. I noticed yesterday that my new persimmon trees are starting to bud out I'm so excited even though I probably won't get any persimmons until next year.

The strawberries are blooming alreday, green onions that survived the winter snow and ice are getting huge. Radishes are almost ready to harvets been thinning them for salad.

My tomato, zinnia and pepper plants are doing great under my grow lights. I may plant a few in the garden in wall o waters next week.

yeonassky - I suspect we're in the same area and I am so tired of being cold. Went for a trail run this am and again it was only 1C, it's noon and it may be sunny but it's only 6C. (42F). I can't wait for next week, sunny and warm, we may even break 16C (65F).

It looks like it is pretty cold in Vancouver still. It's not as cold as what Deutsche Wellenews said it was, however - they always get the temperature wrong for Los Angeles as well - often by 10-15°F. Sometimes I think they are reporting current temperatures instead of high temperatures. The report on their web site looks more accurate than what I see on their TV show.

Forgot to say that we planted our tomato plants April 2 and the lettuce is up. Our daffodils and tulips are long gone. Roses are loaded with buds and some are blooming already. Freesias, which I love, are in full bloom.

We’ve had warm days (mid teens celsius) the past few days. There’s still ice on the lakes. Overall, it has been a pretty nice spring. The snow on the ground had just about disappeared and then today we had a bunch of heavy wet snow!

Oh well, I guess we can use the moisture.

LOL I meant milder when the sun is full out. Definitely mornings are still cold and when I walk my dogs I walk briskly and wear gloves and extra trousers. The wind kicked up right after I posted. But for the moment when I was out in the sunshine on the balcony with my kittens definitely it was milder. Plus the inside of the house reads a few degrees warmer showing me that the temperatures are moving in the right direction.

Seems like it is a little more windy than usual, but this is only my second spring up here, so hard to say. Weather has been very mild, in the 50's at night, 70's during the day, but getting progressively warmer. The trees are leafing out. Dogwoods and red buds blooming around the forest edges. We are a little low on rain. My roses came back after that week long snow and ice storm we had, better than ever. Hardy waterlilies are starting to bloom and the tropicals are waking up.

It has been erratic, as it typically is here - we seem to be at a crossroads of fronts.

I would have said that our winter was overall milder, but then in Feb we had that unusually long and unusually late cold spell of temps hovering in the low 20s. The it warmed up earlier than usual. Our first March on record with no snow at all! Things started leafing out and my apricots were in full bloom (early) when the polar freeze came through. Lost all the blossoms despite wrapping them up. I had also uncovered and unwrapped my in ground Chicago Hardy fig, which looked good at that point with green stems and buds; I didn't fully re-wrap it though, just put its insulated box back over it, and the freeze killed most of the stems.

Now the pears and plums are in full bloom and the apples are about to. Fingers crossed that we don't get another hard freeze - we had one in late April or May last year.
