Although only two days old, your comment is already 5 pages back, because there is so much posting here. The best thing is to begin a new thread asking about the size you are considering. Be sure to give more details, the size and layout of the kitchen, etc. so the good people who answer will already have that info and be able to answer more quickly and accurately instead of having to ask you (which will add to the time for you to get answers) or say 'it depends; give us more information.' The other reason to begin a new thread is that the current one asks about the size of the island lights. I think you are asking about the practicality of the size of island itself you are considering. Anyone searching for a thread on your topic would not find it easily because it is a different topic than the original one. A new thread would allow you to get answers tailored to your question and situation. That would be most helpful for you when trying to make decisions. It would also help others who want to know! I hope that makes some sense.

Hi Kendrah, Thanks! I want something a little less “diner-esque.” It feels either that or clinical, especially in addition to the amount of stainless already in the kitchen. I do plan/hope to redo the kitchen but instead of a full remodel, I think I’ll be more likely to piecemeal it for now by changing the vent and cooktop, the undermount sink and maybe the backsplash for now. It’s the most poorly done tile backsplash I’ve ever seen and it goes to the ceiling. 🤦🏻‍♀️ In 5-7 years when I feel justified in changing all of the floors (the house is only two years old so I feel wasteful doing if right now), I may do a full remodel with new cabinetry and new countertops, but hope to reuse the cooktop and range come that time. I do plan to get new counter seating. I don’t like these much either but I bought them off of the first owner for a bargain because i didn’t feel like spending money on new counter stools (and six of them with spare for one more!!) until I knew what look/feel I’d be going for in the kitchen.

I'm wondering why the crown your cabs are more substantial. take a look at kitchen with ceilings at your height and the cabs that don't go all the way up. Then take a look at others where they do close the gap w/display cabs, or have thicker crown molding. NO to that hood. they look too modern. yours would basically have this look w/the gap on top. Do you really like this?? could you close the gap w/some glass display uppers? see how they did this one? this one too. try to imagine this look w/o the glass uppers against the ceiling. I still don't care for that vent, but it looks a bit better w/the gap closed. I like this hood style better AND the gap closed. or add on to your uppers like this, along w/a vent hood to match. this would look nice w/yours here's a vent hood that is built to match the cabs If you left the gap but did the vent hood to the ceiling, you'd get this look. here is Design Interior South, the kitchen photo she wanted me to post for you.
