moving outdoors issues?
Comments (4)great info tdog. i appreciate the organic component of your post too. i used organic soil, amended w/molasses, meal and worm castings and a good layer of mulch. i will use compost tea once a month for the next 3-4 months to keep those microbes happy. last year i "fertilized" with liquified seaweed every 2 weeks and rotated with regular MG at half strength every 2 weeks. i got tremendous lush growth but no blooms. i have since heard that i was not fertilizing enough and needed MG's Bloom Booster or equivalent and used at recommended strength weekly (which seems a lot to me). does this sound about right to you? (if by solid ferts you mean something like osmocote pellets i dont ever use those type ferts.) thanks again for your input! jo...See MoreNo overhead kitchen lights - transformer issue - dimmer & kable lights
Comments (14)Update on the transformer and dimmer issue. The retailer sent a 60 Watt transformer to test with an ELV dimmer instead of the magnetic one. It's tiny, smaller than the dimmer and much cheaper, like $65 instead of $200 for the 150 Watt transformers. We got the package via UPS on Monday (not Next Day Air when sent on a Friday) and the lights worked fine but the dimmer did not work. The transformer was installed in a wall space near the ceiling. Today they disconnected the transformer and installed it all a different way, with the transformer installed behind the dimmer/electric box. It all seems to work with the exception of one bulb that won't fully dim. I'm just glad we have lights finally. They will install the kitchen lights once the additional 3 transformers arrive, which should be tomorrow....See Morehelp with outdoor lighting? (mixing light styles?)
Comments (5)Hello Ahreno, You mentioned that budget is an issue (as it is for most of us). Is there a reason that you want to have so many pairs of lights? Maybe in some places a single light is enough and would allow you to save some money. Many companies offer collections so you can purchase larger or smaller lights based on the location. The two styles of lights you suggest look very contemporary. Will this contemporary look be the best for your home’s style, or might a transitional style work and not look dated in 10 years? Be sure to think about where switches will be placed. Will you need to cross an outdoor space to get from the garage into the house? If so, be sure you have a switch at both the garage and inside the back door. Useful options for lighting is motion sensors and dusk to dawn settings so you can set and forget turning them on and off daily. This is especially nice if you want to light the front and maybe a rear entrance to the property. Good luck - all the decisions can be overwhelming, and the choices too!...See Moreoutdoor shower issues
Comments (2)Not copper because you're worried about theft? This should be an easy plumbing job, but you need to figure out what you are going to do to protect the pipes during freezing weather. A better explanation of how you intend to use this and how you will get water to it is needed f you want better advice....See More3onthetree
