Comments (1)IF I were going to do a mud floor with heat mats, I'd go ahead with the normal tar paper and wire lath base, then I'd lay down some of the dry-pack, lay in the mats, and lay some more dry-pack over the top of the wires, and scread it off, thereby burying the wires and mudding the floor all in one shot. Mudding the floor and then laying the wires on top seems to me to be defeating the purpose. As an alternative, he could also lay down the wires under ALL the mud, but then there would be that much more mortar insulating the heat from reaching the surface....See MoreAnyone ever bought Zellige or Moroccan tile online from abroad?
Comments (49)Edit Beth I think we cross posted. I have followed them on IG, that’s where I fell in love <3 Wow, you kind of can really tell the difference when you see the zellige side by side with the ceramic. Ok- so the glazing makes the tile less porous. That would make sense. I’m gonna have to read some more. Id hate to miss out on doing zellige because of an untrue bad reputation. It seems that my choices typically have asking “really?” until they see the finished product lol. Like when I insisted our floors be redone before we moved in (despite the fact that they had just been done... in oil based semi gloss). Or when I insisted we pull down the wood paneling in our bedroom instead of painting over it. I have a little bit of a chip on my shoulder (admittedly) about doing things my way. I find that a lot of people miss out on things they would have loved because they let themselves get talked into what’s easy. That’s a bit of a tangent- but it’s true! On a semi related note- I meant to ask this too might as well ask here. Has anybody ever bought like secondhand tile from Craigslist? I just got to thinking one day it probably would save so much money. I buy everything else used anyway....See MoreTell me your experience with Zellige tiles
Comments (11)Hi Erika! It was our installers first time with zellige, but they did not run into any real issues. It did take longer than they anticipated originally just because of the extra time it takes to soak the tiles. They also mitered the edges of the tile around the shower which is quite labor intensive. One thing I wish I would have done differently is specified the size of the shower niche to the installers, the tile is quite thick and they did not really take that into account when measuring the niche so it turned out a bit smaller than I would have liked. I did not deal with Riad tile directly, my contractor ordered the tile for us, but they had great customer service (I have heard the opposite about cle which I did order a sample from). Hope that helps!...See MoreZellige tile installation
Comments (48)bevysaintpe,,,,tea ceremony is a beautiful color. I would use a light gray grout color, allowing the zellige tile to shine through. The eye really won't pick up on the gray. Look at Mapei Warm Gray. it's the perfect shade. I used it w/my shower tiles the warm gray will give you a similar look to this one. (also your color tile) here's the warm gray in the Flexcolor CQ I would not use this bright white grout color or this very large grout spacing try to get as close as you can...See MoreRelated Professionals
