This won't help much, but this looks a lot like the rose severally study-named: "McBride Plot," "McCarty Plot," "William Daniels," "Bud Jones," "Gilbert Plot," and "Jeri's Mystery" -- and probably several other study names. The color is very changeable, and it is often much darker. A suggested name for that rose is 'Geant des Battailles' (sp?) but that is disputed. There was a thread here at dome point about fragrance and someone pointed out that the scent described as myrrh in roses has nothing to do with the myrrh resin. But now I don’t remember the details. Some people think is smells like turpentine and others like dirty diapers. Other people think it is a wonderful fragrance. Goes to show everyone’s nose picks up something different. My DH and I were at the Descanso Garden last summer. He suddenly said what is that wonderful fragrance! Then he pinpointed it to a nondescript plant with purple flowers. I smelled absolutely nothing from that plant. Not any scent at all!

I grew both Pretty Lady Rose (died this winter), plus Pink Peace. It looks like Pink Peace for me. Pretty Lady Rose has VERY GLOSSY foliage, but Pink Peace has dull & and dark-green foliage like the pic.

BenT: 😂... you’re right it might just be destiny... that’s so funny you mention Grand Dame... I was also thinking the same thing. But doesn’t she bloom in large sprays of blooms? That’s the one reason figured it wasn’t Grand Dame. It’s definitely not pretty lady… since I have pretty lady and the Bloom form is different. 🌸 It’s funny you mention Me and Grand Dame crossing paths... I was at Home Depot on the same day I saw that mystery rose... and came across this mislabeled rose. 🌸 It’s definitely not the roses on the tag. It had 4 or more broken canes and blooming buds... made me so sad. But even with all those broken canes, it still had a good number of buds left on the plant and one flower in bloom. 🌸 Fragrance was moderate and lovely. So I decided to take a chance on it and bring it home with me. Do you think this might also be Grand Dame?
