Help, ideas, suggestions with rustic living room (img heavy)
Comments (20)now that you have included more photos i agree that you need to draw the red in from the rest of the house, otherwise it is going to look empty, and not cohesive, i myself love the red print in the chairs..but think that the drapery red is a good idea..you can see the green now in your photos and it is fine, a great compliment to the red. as far as making it a dining room, that works but maybe you should consider it a library/game/sitting room..you already have the great bay window with the table, make it a larger game table if you feel you need a larger one, i would put some bookcases on the other walls and then if you don't want a lot of seating, just cozy a reading area up with a lamp and a side table and either the sofa or a reading chair..and make it that wonderful look of the old wild wild west..which i said above is always victorian if you go inside those buildings with your eyes when you are watching the westerns, rather than just paying attention to the action, watch the decor, and you'll see that that is a great way to lean..and a great place for your cowby go come after a long day on the range to sit and read a book or play some poker....See MoreLiving Room suggestions/help please? Comments (29)Oh, dear! I thought you might like that console...and unfortunately it is no longer available, which is why I didn't send the link. It is the Bailey Console Table by Pottery Barn. It's a great look and I am sure that you can find something similar. Take a look at the Layla Grayce link below. Their inventory is a bit pricey, but the furniture and rugs on the site are wonderful and may provide some inspiration. RE: the rug size As a rule, choosing the correct size area rug depends on the dimensions of the room or space you are trying to cover. To determine what size rug will best suit your needs: 1. Measure the size of your room. 2. Measure the space you want covered. 3. Now place a piece of paper where each of the corners will fall; adjust the "corners" as needed to make the space larger or smaller and then re-measure the area. Most people feel that room will look better proportioned if there is at least 18-24" of bare floor space around the area rug. Try to leave an equal amount of flooring exposed as a border on all sides. If that is not possible, try to ensure that the borders on parallel sides of the rug are equal. All legs of the furniture should be on the rug for a classic look, and at the very least, have the front legs of the furniture on the rug and the back legs off the rug (a more casual look). The reference below is helpful if you want to follow the 18" to 24" of bare floor showing around a room sized rug "rule of thumb". 8' 0" x 10' 0"-Size Area Rug - for Room Size: 9' 6" x 11' 6" to 10' 0" x 12' 0" & larger 9' 0" x 12' 0" -Size Area Rug - for Room Size: 10' 6" x 13' 6" to 11' 0" x 14' 0"" & larger 10' 0" x 15' 0 -Size Area Rug - for Room Size: 11' 6" x 16' 6" to 12' 0" x 17' 0" & larger It is generally considered awkward for a heavily traffic area to be half rug, and half "no rug". You do not want one foot on a rug and one foot off as you are walking through an area constantly....See MoreWall color and curtain suggestion for turqouise living room
Comments (27)Thank you for all your comments. I ve moved the new house, without painting the walls. I wanted to see my furniture in the room, then wanted to decide exactly. ı placed the furnitures in this way. nowadays im thinking about teal/ bali colors behind the console and creme sofa and a goldy paint behind the turqoise sofa. How does it sound...? About curtains. I dont want to use brown, beige colors for. What about curtains a gold colored curtain or light teal tones. How would it be? Im so confused. :( Thank you very much for your help....See MoreLiving room rug help/suggestions
Comments (9)You could pick up the black and/or the khaki/olive. TBH, the backsplash doesn't appear to have much olive in it, but the kitchen wall appears to be much more olive, at least on my screen. Depending on what you would like to do, you could change the wall color in the kitchen, and/or change the backsplash or cover the splash with peel and stick tiles: https://www.thesmarttiles.com/en_us/tiles/ However, the backsplash does seem to sync up with the floor. So if you wanted to down play the olive, the easiest and I think most effective route would be to paint that section of the wall that appears to be very olive. But if you'd like to incorporate some of the green, it could be as simple as bringing in a vase in LR. For example, this floor vase has blue, olive, brown tones. And or bring in a plant or two. And or a pillow that has olive and maybe khaki in it. Or pick up the green with some art. The brown counter stools in kitchen can work within a cream/tan/grey scheme. But if you wanted to further connect the kitchen, as one idea, you could bring in some grey stools. I think charcoal grey in there. So, really, it all depends on what you would like to do. You can have a foundation of cream, tans, greys and pick up the black; Flo Mangan gave you some ideas for that. Or you could pick up the olive/khaki in the same scheme. Or both. It depends on how much you want to emphasize the black and/or green. But you don't have to bring in the green, khaki, black, etc . in a rug....See Moreeverdebz
