Following on what graywings says, for the look to make sense, the wall in question should be an interior wall with a doorway and/or windows into the house, as if the wall used to be an exterior wall. Putting the boards on the inside of an exterior wall is disconcerting, as if there used to be a house on the other side, but now, not. You wouldn't think these subtle visual clues would affect you, but they do. It's the same reason that I don't favor blue floors...feels vaguely insecure, like walking on sky or water...

Could you post more pictures? It's hard to make a recommendation without seeing what you already have going on in the room.

Please clarify this statement... "I like more war, colors like the beige or light tan to coordinate with each other." Also it is hard to recommend colors without some idea of the space and how the rooms relate to each other. Do you have a floor plan, sketch or pictures that you can post to help us give you ideas? Whole house open concept or 3 separate rooms with doors or clearly defined separations for different colors of paint. Also what color & type of flooring, furniture, cabinets, rugs, art etc... Without any of the above I can say I like the following colors & you might start your paint journey with:

What are you willing/able to do? What, specifically, are you unhappy with? Are you considering replacing the furniture? Paint the walls? Without more information it's difficult for me to make suggestions. However, I'd strongly suggest moving that chair away from the draperies/window. And also change the paint color. Is the room as small as it looks in these pictures? If so, that furniture, in my opinion, is far too large. When you say "Beautify my living room again" (again being the word I'm referring to), what did it look like before when you considered it beautiful? I think you've got a lot to work with. It would also probably be a good idea for you to post this also in the Home Decorating Forum.
