What are you trying to accomplish with an all white room? Are you also saying all white furniture? Or just the walls? Your sofa looks beige? Are you thinking it will be easier than picking colors? As there are a million whites and it can be harder to do if you are thinking more than just walls. And to carry it off successfully you need a lot of texture and visual interest.

Yes! Thinking the walls. We have toyed with a few different color options, but none seem to work.

We would create visual interest with changing the light fixture out and adding lots of greenery/adding some things to the wall. Unsure of what we could do more texture-wise.

White just seems the most versatile (walls not furniture, all the furniture in the room would be starting from scratch to pair with the walls!) But we are open to other color ideas for sure!

Paint is usually the last thing to decided on. Ideally you are better to get the flooring in 1st and work from there. I know you are excited to make this your own but do you want to paint and then find that you picked the wrong white to go with everything else? Take your time and do it right the first time will save you a lot of money and headaches. In the meantime you can start putting photos of rooms you like in Ideabooks and start reading about white paint and all the factors that will affect it. And texture can include metals, wood, glass and fabrics. Congrats on you new home.

You have no idea books. And haven’t stated your style. So it’s hard to give suggestions.
Honestly I’d start with the flooring. Rather live as is then fix it up and add flooring after. Do it once and do it right.
I’ve seen really cool , super budget friendly sheet faux wood floors that look absolutely amazing. I think from Home Depot. I saw it on a blog and couldn’t believe it. So if that helps that’s where I’d start.
If you want all white go for it. I just think you’ll get kinda bored of it. As pretty as it is.
Don’t get me wrong I’m a total neutral pallet lover myself. But there’s something about blue! ( my fave - sorry. You’ll be stuck with an all blue home now lol)
What about neutrals. Just not white. I feel like it’s too stark for the style of the space. For the FP I’d try to create a whitewash finish by taking some paint off. ( big project) or recovering.

This home is a bit more classical in vibe, but the two-tone white color scheme might work for you. Believed to be Navajo White walls and White Dove trim.

All white would be beautiful in this room. I think first you have to decide if you prefer a warm white or a cool white. Once that has been decided then you can begin to narrow down paint selections. In regards to the trim work in the room, paint the walls and ceiling in a flat finish and the use the same color in a satin or semi-gloss for the trim. Good luck and keep us posted.

@tedbixby and @HU-187528210 We hadn't thought of starting with the flooring, simply because of $$. But we could start there! I guess that makes sense too with it determining the color palette as well. Thank you for that suggestion and the Home Depot tip! That's so helpful!

@HU-187528210 we had thought of neutrals! We were leaning towards a light gray if we did that, it's just so hard to envision. We are trying to steer away from blue because, just above the stairs into the kitchen and dining areas, we have bluish gray and bluish green (color SW Comfort Gray for the kitchen and color SW retreat in the dining room). All three rooms can be seen in one glance when walking through the hallway, so that's why we wanted to steer away from yet another color going on in that view.

@decoenthusiaste ooh I love that classic vibe! Minus the portraits maybe ;) we had thought about a white bottom under the chair rail so we could keep the moulding, however, I have not seen many living rooms in my research that do that, so I didn't know if that was out of vogue...

@Wildcat Blue Is that okay to do the same color on the trim? I'd kinda love to do that, but for some reason I thought trims had different standardized paint colors. I'm learning so much here....:)

I don’t seethe pictures. But, Whites are good if you want the walls to come forward. And more Value recedes the space. Change what you feel is ugly. Yes and then remove the bad. Bring about the good. Make your day!
