Can you post a picture of the window wall?

Ok I like that I idea, but now that you see the windows there do you think the chairs would still work if its between the windows.

I’m sorry to clarify -do you think the chairs will fit if the China closet is between the windows? I think it could be too cramped.

The rug is small for the space, but I like the idea of a multicolored rug which can give you your color scheme. I might try the tall cabinet on the wall to its right or between the windows rather than next to the sofa. A coffee table or a couple of end tables would give visitors somewhere to place a glass or dish. Add a couple pieces of art and perhaps long drapery panels to frame the windows. The window shades may give enough privacy, but turn the lights on inside, with the shades down, and go look from outside to see if privacy is sufficient. You are fairly close to the sidewalk and street and passers by may be able to see inside through the woven shades.

Thank you! I will move the cabinet to between the windows to see how that looks. I intially tried the wall to the right and the door opened very close to it and it felt like you couldn’t open the cabinet door without it bumping into the couch. The window shades do have a privacy liner. I love when people pick the right drapery, for me it’s the hardest decision. And yes the rug is way too small, it’s going back to my kitchen.

I plan on getting either an end table or coffee table and more lighting. I’m debating on size and placement since it’s a small space.

Thank you Diana Bier! On the app I used this all looked like it fit to me but I‘m just a beginner and it didn’t quite translate in real life. I guess it a big learning curve there.

For the style I mentioned, it was because that’s what I tend to like when I look online and I was hoping that blending styles could achieve at least something nice and maybe a nod to transitional/midcentury. The shape of the couch, the slim chair, leather and the plants were in some of those pictures so i thought maybe that would lend to an overall look. I thought with adding the right tables, lightening and art I could help achieve something with that vibe. I also wasn’t sure what style the piano was considered because it has the straight lines and it’s black. I realize the pictures I sent are not really attainable.

Do you think there is any solution to using the 3 large pieces that I already have in the room?

I agree with Diana. Your inspirational pictures are very transitional and modern. The China cabinet and artwork are very traditional. Generally speaking, the sofa is the largest piece of furniture so it should remain on the longest wall where it is. Add another chair for balance next to the one you already have. A more contemporary rug, artwork and table lamps will pull it all together. Use accent pillows in whatever color you’d like to highlight. If possible, I’d remove the China cabinet. Very large piece which takes up a lot of space both visually and physically and works against what you’re trying to do. Add a coffee table and/ or side tables if you have room so that someone sitting on the sofa has a place to set down a drink.

On looking at your piano and china cabinet again, I agree that the piano could work with the look you are going for. However, I agree with Inside Out that the China cabinet is not going to add anything to the room, either functionally or aesthetically. So I'd not use it here.

I think a large sea grass rug would work for the look you want, and it's not terribly expensive either.

Inside out staging, my husband will thank you for not recommending we move the piano! I wasn‘t happy with the artwork once it was up so I‘ll look for something else.

There’s always a compromise:) I think the Lilyana nesting tables are more the style you’re looking for but hard to say proportionately if they’ll work. Where were you thinking they would go?

I would put them to the left of couch and the floor lamp adjacent. I will have to move the china cabinet but don’t know where yet. When that space is empty I’ll find another end table, I don’t love when they match. I will like likely forgo a coffee table if I have end tables on both sides.

This is another table that I like but I don’t know if it’s modern. What do you think?
