What Color Sink with Sea Pearl Quartzite?
Comments (13)my3dogs - Thx for your input! Love your quartzite. I think that's great you are reusing your sink! No need to buy something else if you like your current one & it's in good shape. I was ready to get the $300 Ikea drop-in farm sink, but my DH really wants an undermount, so I caved...but I can live with either. Thx for the Ebay links. They don't have the 6488 model I want (except for local pick-up in NY); I'll keep checking though. I called Kohler today about getting sample chips; they are backordered on sea salt and cashmere. Both very popular (cashmere the #1 seller at the Fergusons in my area). I'm going to make another round of showroom visits with my cabinet door & photos (don't have a sample of the Sea Pearl but will ask the fabricator again). I can look at the sample chips at the showroom. I did like the dune color online; I will see what that one looks like. BirchPoint - Thank you! You raised the same concerns I have about the cashmere. It is lovely on its own, but not sure in combination with the other elements in my kitchen. My DH agrees with you; the sink will be here for many years, and the extra money will be worth it if it's "the one" for our kitchen. lmgch - Good to know! The fact that you selected the sea salt Whitehaven with Sea Pearl raises my comfort level with that color. It is lovely, and I like the tiny speckles in it. The "sea" in both the quartzite and sink color names may be a sign. :) Thx!...See MoreWhat Color Whitehaven With White Dove Cabinets?
Comments (21)DrB477: Thank you yet again for posting such lovely close-up photos of your sea salt Kohler! I've a question: While we don't intend to allow our sinks to stay dirty, I know there will be times when food bits are left in the sink a while as I do other things in the kitchen, and it might be a day or so before I can remove ss marks. Do you think the sea salt lends itself to not showing up such things quite as much as the flatter colors? I think if so, this might be a selling point. rantontoo: I love your granite choice! We'll be choosing a busy granite, and for our tastes, I think the sea salt, given the depth, would look fabulous with a busy granite - but that is perhaps a very personal choice. The sea salt is not multi-colored to my eye, but rather it has depth. If we can fit the extra $1k into our budget for two sea salt sinks, I'm sure leaning that way....See MoreWhite Icing Classic Medallion with White Apron Sink?
Comments (11)We are using the Design Craft line from Medallion (it's their frameless line). Our KD told us they released a new color called "Sea Salt" and it is whiter than the White Icing. We are trying to decide between the two and are leaning toward the Sea Salt because there is NO clashing with the farmhouse sink!...See MoreMedallion Silverline Painted (MDF) Cabinets - need advice
Comments (8)I am a K&B Designer, and I also carry and sell Medallion Cabinetry. It is a great line that has tons of finish options and customization. Their customer service is phenomenal. Here is the clip out of the Silverline Spec book explaining MDF. MDF is becoming more widely accepted, especially in states with all 4 seasons (or high temps vs low temps and changing humidity). MDF does not expand and contract like solid wood does, so it accepts a painted finish very cleanly. Sometimes you end up seeing some small lines and splits in your painted finish when using solid wood, but with MDF there is a much better chance that it won't happen. Not that I condone lying... but... if your K&B Designer didn't tell you it was going to be MDF and you got them installed, I can guarantee you wouldn't be able to tell the difference and you would be just as happy with them. Don't let the idea of not having solid wood scare you! MDF is engineered for this purpose....See Morelalaucb
