Need suggestion to improve look of brick fireplace
Comments (4)OMG, metal brackets on a craftsman fireplace? Really? I would clean up the fireplace. Also I would join this group on FB and ask them for advice. Also post on The Old House forum here...See Morefireplace makeover
Comments (9)Nice room w/cozy potential. It's small but if well done, it will be a welcoming space. Thoroughly clean, even bleach, the stone but don't paint it, please. If there will be a tv in this room, over the fireplace would be the most practical place to put it but do consider any local building codes and the amount of heat to which your tv could be exposed.. Shelving left of the fireplace could impede opening the door as fully as you might want. If that is the look you prefer, you might buy one shelving unit and try it both places before buying a second. Because matching the shelving units might be impractical, you might consider a corner cabinet on the right if you're choosing a painted wall around your fireplace. However, ... since that wall to the right of the fireplace wall could accommodate a two seat sofa facing the door or a very large recliner, putting a floor lamp/table combo unit in that corner might be a better idea. Instead of any built in or wall attached shelving, consider adding a wall to wall horizontal trim board immediately above the stone with wainscoting below and painted wall above. Your ceiling fan has wood look blades so you could choose that wood finish for your wainscoting. Don't forget to post after pics....See MoreLooking for fireplace/wall remodel advice!
Comments (1)The tile stickers are fine. Unless you want a change…. I’d paint the mantle white. Redo the hearth. And maybe do wallpaper on the wall… but not necessary… I’d also definitely consider floor to ceiling curtains. Lots of potential here!! 🤍🤍...See MoreRoom makeover suggestions
Comments (5)Are the sofas covered to protect from pets? I would move one sofa to face the tv, bringing left arm close to right arm of perpendicular sofa. A table with lamp could complete that corner where the arms are close. One of the chairs placed where the sofa you moved was located, and a narrow “C” table for drinks, etc. The second chair to a bedroom, maybe? The “cart to the left of the fireplace is out of place, so remove. A rug to anchor the furniture and a round coffee table. You may want to add a nice bench or hassock (moveable) to the right of the fireplace for additional seating. This should give you space to move in/out of room. The chandelier would look great over a dining table. Other ceiling lighting will depend on what you need. Have fun....See Morelkloes
