Help framing in electrical fireplace

Hi there
Looking to install the napoleon trivista 60 inch electric fireplace in my upstairs living room. There will be a tv above the fireplace, and it will be backlit. The fireplace itself can be installed with glass edges visible or built in, as shown in the two attached photos of similar fireplaces.
My question is: which fireplace install looks better? I like the look of the exposed/wrap around glass edge but I'm concerned that I would only be able to get a 50 inch tv if installed that way, compared to a 60 inch tv if installed with the drywall frame all around.

I'll stick my neck out and toss my opinions in here to get this thread rolling.

On the wrap-around FP, any other openings in the same FP massing is too distracting for me. The FP glass is the moneyshot - it accentuates the horizontality, and anything above or below conflicts with that and distracts in an unappealing way.

On the backlit tv, yes it's cool looking but we are still in the early stages of an invention where you stick modern technology anywhere you can think of. The light seems to compete with the FP flame and if you are a pure media watcher it distracts from the screen as well. However, I would appreciate a backlit cove around either the entire FP mass or just along the sides, but not within the tv inset.

Just my opinion worth the price you paid for it.

I'll stick my neck out too. I agree with 3. The light is distracting, but subdued lighting is very attractive. I might do a fp with glass surround if it was the corner, not meeting a wall; open on both sides. For some reason with a wall it looks more like a fish tank. Now with 2 contents you'll likely get a whole slew of people who disagree. Just build what you like 👍

Typically you need to keep any combustible material 12" away from the opening on the sides and 12 - 18" on the top. Some codes allow combustibles to be closer depending upon how much they stick out from the face. If you want to frame in closer, you can use metal studs and cement board (not drywall). With regard to the hearth, there is a requirement for a certain thickness of non-combustible material over any combustible material (usually 2"). The safest and easiest way to build the raised hearth is to use steel studs and cement board and then cover it with whatever kind of stone or tile you pick. Hope this helps.

Don't believe the bullsh%t advertisement. An electric heater is an electric heater, no matter how it is repackaged. To figure your hourly cost of running an electric heater, multiply the power consumed by your delivered price of electricity. For me, it would be: (1500 watts / 1000 watts per kw) x 16 cents per kw-hr = 24 cents per hour. PS: I like the oil-filled electric radiators for a small room. They're quiet (no fan) and safe. Framing specs will be in the fireplace manual - so if you’ve already chosen a unit I’d start there. Some are wall mount only and can not be built-in.

The glass sides wouldn’t be my first choice with the tv above.
