Comments (3)I've been putting together a book list for myself culled from the various online book lists like Gutenberg, etc. These are all books that you can read on line ,download and copy as you wish. HEARTH project, at Cornell University, has books on various fields of home economics, including the building of houses, their decorating, etc. There are quite a few goodies over there, more books on old houses than any other listing I've seen so far. The link below will take you to the page with 1920's-30's publications. I haven't really gotten around to looking at them yet. I've got about 50 odd books on my list right now, with old house plans, detailing, decorating, furniture, etc. I've been sort of "thumbing the pages" of them this week. It's interesting to me just how into "colonial" period houses and furnishings the people of the late 19th and early 20th century people were. If anyone is interested in my list, you can email me. Make sure I know it's the old house book list. When in doubt I chuck it out as far as emails from people I don't know go. You could even make a note here that you were going to request info just in case. Here is a link that might be useful: BOOKS...See MoreDutch Colonial Front Door Color

Comments (11)Thank you all for the feedback, it's giving me a lot to think about! I'm inspired by the dark green, and came across this image in another discussion - wow. BUT, i could commit to all creamy white with dark gutters and shutters and feel good with that choice too. I think I'm letting go of dark windows unless it's a dark on dark (green) monochromatic look. However, right now the house reads "green" and has always been green, so I really don't want to spend all this $$ and effort and have it look more or less the same....See MoreExterior Paint Suggestions for Dutch Colonial Revival
Comments (7)I just enlarged the picture and saw it is Navy which wouldn't be like your neighbour. Love the look! And yes those white dydrangeas are also gorgeous and looks like you have space for that under your porch. I had hydrangeas in all of my home gardens, still do, and they grow quickly......See MoreAnna Devane
