That doesn't seem too busy to me at all. I think it looks lovely and adds interest. I'd suggest you continue with the other stages of your reno (appliances through accessories), live with it for a while, and then decide.

I am a minimalist and think it’s fine. Wait until you have your range and vent hood installed. It‘s not a large area and I don’t think it’s too busy.

I think it looks great. everything is so white and plain. it's nice to have a little interest on the splash.

add some accessories so it looks finished. bring in some cutting boards. the wood really warms things up. some small plants. (faux is fine, although you have a garden window. bring in some potted herbs in pretty pots.) some bowls, fruit, a bit of color.

add a rug

wood, greenery, and a rug, will go a loooonnng way to making this look great.

BTW, did you have to rush the backsplash? if you really wanted Cloe, couldn't you have lived w/a plain wall for a few months?

I agree with the above. I know it's hard when you just don't like something, regardless of others' opinions, but give it a little time and see if it grows on you. It may look perfect once everything else is done. It's very clean looking and I think it works with a modern aesthetic.

Yes, these are not exactly the Chloe. Chloe are more muted and these are certainly stronger.

Here’s the thing when you come here. If the majority think they are fine, feel assured that they indeed look fine.

That said, this is your kitchen. If you truly dislike it, now is the time to change it, before you install the hood.

Realize though that the wall that is screaming at you is the wall that will be obstructed by the hood.

You made a good choice, it’s just not your original choice.

Thanks everyone! Yes - I think the biggest disappointment for me is that they just aren’t the muted colors of the Chloe. Contractor was pushing us to install now, and the tiles looked similar online but totally different IRL. My husband just hollered that we’re not changing the tile (lol), so I guess we’ll see how it looks after we add appliances and accents. Thanks!

Not a pro. Agree with the rest - I think it looks wonderful. However, you live in your space not us. If it’s going to bug you every time you walk in YOUR kitchen - rip it out and re-do now. Painting it seems like a DIY solution to the high end kitchen you’ve curated

I 100% agree with Beth's post above. I think it looks great and if you get some accessories in place and a few things on the counter, I think it will all come together perfectly.

Why not pick a wall paint colour from one of the tiles and use that to tie it a more together. It might help you feel it all blends if you repeat one of the tile colours elsewhere.

It is so hard not to second guess decisions. There are so many people who post on Houzz who've really regretted their decisions and often for good reason. I think this will likely work out very well for you once you bring in a few more pieces and get your appliances etc in place.

Your range hood is going to cover some of that expanse you're looking at now. Right now all you're seeing is the tile against the white of the cupboards.

Finish it all off and bring in your decor items and trust yourself. I hope you'll be able to embrace and enjoy your beautiful kitchen.

It's really nice and I'm often one of the first to say "too busy." I bet the day will come when you can't imagine you once questioned it. Nicely done!

I personally don't like it and agree with OP. A tile with subtle variation would be much nicer, IMO. This one looks patchwork. Like you bought out some odd lots of tile.

If you don't like it, now is the time to change it--before the hood is installed.

IMO, the backsplash is fine, but not with the black hardware. Suggest switching out or painting hardware for brushed nickel.

It is beautiful and I agree with all those who noted once accessories are in it will all pull together. Use those colors in other parts of the decor to help do that as others have suggested as well.

I think it works with your kitchen. That said, I'm like you in that i like a really minimalist kitchen. I don't want noticeable backsplashes, plus cutting boards, and knife blocks and fruit bowls congesting my view. So even though i agree it works, I don't really *like* it.

But..... I would wait until the kitchen is totally done, and you've got out whatever stuff will inevitably be on the counter (some of it is unavoidable.....), and a kitchen towel, etc, and see if you still hate it. I think there's a 25% chance that once everything is in place, it blends into the background a bit more. But i think there's a 75% chance it still unsettles you.... in which case, yeah, feel free to tear out....

Your countertop fabricator failed to return the built-up edge at your appliance opening, exposing the underlayment and making cleaning much more problematic. Not on topic, but people should be aware.

Ok, now almost a year later, did you keep it or tear it out. I know sometimes when MY husband says no we are keeping it, it just makes me dig in my heels even more, haha. But I thought it looked ok but Totally Understand when you make a compromise and then are a little disappointed. I'd love to hear if you kept it as I'm going through the agony of deciding on a backsplash now.
