Gap at edge of Ceramic Tile flooring
Comments (3)Use a caulk backer rod - 7/8" maybe, and compress it into the gap, leaving 1/4 - 3/8" depth to fill. A textured silicone caulk that matches the brick mortar would probably look the best in this situation. I would avoid filling with any grout or mortar - it will crack with contraction and expansion....See MoreCovering Gap between Tiled Wall & Floor in Bathroom

Comments (13)the reason I am not using schluter trim is no matter what color/style, it still looks like a picture frame around everything with too much contrast. too bad you didn't ask for mitered tile corners with a minimal gap for continuous grout lines/color. you could try using a matte finish spray paint to tone the glossy, but in wet area might not be permanent solution? maybe a paint deglosser will etch the finish to a dull matte. As for the tile sticking off wall, to get the tiles flush on a wall that may not have been plumb ( level vertically) they had to keep building up morter for tiles to be flush. not optimal, but it happens. I do hope there is waterproofing on walls. hot mop is only the floor. drywall, cement board or anything else behind tile without waterproofing membrane will still leach moisture through grout lines and rot wood structure beneath!...See MoreTile install separating from wall & how much of a wall gap is too much
Comments (14)@ci_lantro Yes, the tile is falling off the wall the further up to the ceiling it goes. Will have to be redone. I did do the stick test and its very substantial at the top. @Creative Tile Eastern CT I agree. My thought would be to have the schluter trim before tile adhered to wall but my installer said he installs that after and slides it under. I think that still has potential for gaps behind tile where no mortar is. Since the top few rows need to come down because they seperated from the wall, I will take a look at how the mortar coverage was applied. Thank you all for the suggesstions and comments. This little shower project has turned into a much bigger headache.I will have the installer fix the tile seperating issue and hope to have this completed properly soon....See MoreC L.
