I love the location and how the backyard seems like another world. The house, no way. It's not even a home, just pretentious heavy furniture and a lot of wasted space.

The grounds are absolutely beautiful but the house-why does someone build this house in this town? 3 bedrooms and 7 baths??

New Bern is a darling area. I absolutely love the grounds, etc. so lush, green and all the flowers. Right there on the river. The inside no. Not at all. Honestly I really didn't see anything inside I liked. If you look at the pictures that show the houses along the river, the docks, etc. most of the other houses are somewhat similar in size but not style.

ETA: I googled him. He was a businessman and an inventor. His wife gave 1.5 million towards a cancer center in his memory.

There's little in the house and furnishing that does not annoy me.

Take out the overwrought faux old world and Tuscan style decor and cabinetry, and I could possible live there.

Okay, that’s wonderful . . . but also alarming and just flat-out weird!

The house is ghastly.

The exteriors and location seem to be nice. The main home with a variety of styles mis-appropriated on such a large scale is wrong in every sense, for me, but I'm certain they had a dream and a vision and were happy there.

The gardens and most of the exterior are wonderful. The inside is just a no for me. I'm guessing that is the Dragon's den?

Very much in keeping with coastal NC.🙄 I'll bet a lot of that is new since Hurricane Florence buried New Bern under 10' of storm surge. They don't look very high off the river.

Not my cup of tea, but if you've always wanted your own castle and have the dough, it would be the perfect fit. I hope they had many happy years there.

I like the house more than I dislike it, but it has too much brown, and the furniture is not my style, but it does remind me of the bar and kitchen furniture that came with our house in Cathedral City. We also have the same ceiling fan that is in the dragon room and are keeping those (we have three of them). We've also been living with the bar furniture for now, as it is very well made, but we plan to change it in the near future. I like the bathrooms in this house.

This house reminds me of an Italian restaurant on Venice Blvd (at or near Centinela) that had a very gothic interior and had been used as a movie set, for some cheap horror movies, I think. Then the restaurant became a Christian Center, but I believe the building has been torn down. It was a decent restaurant and fun to go to because of the interior. Nice to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

I’ll take the terrace and its view. But otherwise, I wouldn’t want the house that is 4x the price of the next most expensive house on the market!
