Why not just widen the current shower 6” or so? Your proposed has a crazy amount of wasted floor space.

I agree about wasted floor space. We did consider just widening the shower initially. However, decided it would be too awkward with the inverted corner that would then exist on the top wall of the shower. We thought about making that little cutout into a bench, but then the shower becomes 3x4...barely. Also, it doesn't solve the more storage problem.

I would deepen the shower where it stands. Use the little bump-out in the tub space by building a 4 ft high wall even with the regular wall and then be able to use that new wall depth to put in a ledge (in lieu of a niche) at the 4 ft height and a toe-rest for shaving indented into the new wall at the proper toe-ret height.

To get storage, get a trough sink with two faucets, leave plenty of counter space on either end, and use 2 ft of your enormous vanity to build a linen closet. If you think you need more places to put things down while getting ready, put a ledge just above the faucets. I will go look for a photo to show you what I mean. Holy cow! The iPad app now lets me make links, just like the regular computer app always has. When did that happen?

Here you go. Put a linen closet next to this vanity, and don’t make it any deeper than the vanity is.

If you have a mirror like this one, you can leave things out on your ledge. You can get med cabs if you don’t leave things out on the ledge, or can put one on a side wall.

I like what Nancy said about the bump out. Is keep it simple and just enlarge the shower by expanding into the empty floor space. You might also think about wrapping the cabinetry around.

Ok. Should the wall in between shower and toilet become a half wall to open the space up a bit? Or should it stay a solid wall and keep the shower head there? Or where should the shower head go?
