Comments (24)NervousNancy... Our pendants and DR chandelier are Murray Feiss and I purchased them at EXPO Design Center (owned by HD). There are 2 finishes...ours are in Antique Pewter. There's also a Grecian Bronze (similar to ORB, I think). The DR chandelier isn't very big b/c our DR is small. They do have larger chandeliers, if you're interested in those as well. P1095AP - 1-Light Morningside F2050/5AP - 5-Light Morningside Our faucet is the Kohler Vinnata® Kitchen Sink Faucet (K-690) in Vibrant Brushed Nickel with the handle on the right. The handle location is adjustable: it can be on the left, right, or middle...it's up to you. The nice thing about being adjustable is that if you don't have enough room behind the faucet for the handle to work properly, you just mount it in the front. We bought it at FaucetDirect.com. There are 8 finishes and it comes in 2 sizes (main sink, the one we have, and prep version (K-691), which is a couple of inches smaller). We love our location as well! Actually, we're on a 3-acre lot w/a street on the other side of the berm in the back then a horse farm/farm under agricultural preservation. We do have neighbors...across the street from the front yard and on either side of us...you just can't see them from our back windows! Plus, we planted a double row of evergreens on one side to block the NW wind that also blocks our view of that house (to the right). Our neighbors on the other side planted a row of pear trees so we didn't feel we could plant evergreens there. But, they're farther away so it's not a big deal...plus we have nice neighbors! Looking at the pictures again, I just realized that those are the pics taken before I cleaned the granite! So, it still has the granite dust on them from the work they did when installing the sink side. (The other side is not done yet, the granite is just placed on the counters, not aligned or secured. We're waiting for a replacement for the cabinet they damaged when they began the install on that wall.) Good luck on your choices & welcome!...See MoreQuartz or granite suggestions with white cabinets
Comments (9)After 10 years of dark granite that was a major chore to keep looking clean (we cook a lot), I definitely went LIGHT/WHITE this go around! I went with Silestone Lagoon and absolutely love it. It's so easy to clean and does a great job resembling real marble tops. Since I did my kitchen 18 months ago, Viatera has come out with some really nice options for this...called the Musica series. Be sure to check them out to. Roccoco and Minuet are the two that are most white/grey. http://www.lgviaterausa.com/productOverviews/31/83/by-product-line?coll=31 For more views of this kitchen, click on the link below Here's a picture of my kitchen tops. Keep in mind that these white marble tops are hard to photograph well. Comments (12)It's an open plan so I presume the floor is for all the space...? If you don't mind going with lighter color floor, as in you haven't decided yet, the lighter flooring would create a better contrast with the cabinets. Unless we see the other floor darker than it is in real life. If for the sake of the whole space you highly prefer dark floor-I feel you should consider lighter cabinets. Even if the space is very large, open, and gets a lot of light...the expanse of the cabinets is still too big, it will be too much black on dark brown. (I went for a very little contrast cabinet and flooring myself, not that it can't be done at all-but it was in a bathroom, much smaller space, and the colors were more medium-toned. ) Otherwise, it's a very pretty scheme you're going for....See MoreIdeas for countertops to go with slate floor/blue cabinets?
Comments (18)@thinkdesignlive I had no idea that the blues I'd picked out had red in them. I have been in touch with a Sherwin Williams color consultant, and will probably buy paints from her/ get her advice about actual paint colors when it comes to that. She'd also suggested figuring out the countertop first, in order to get it to work with the floor, before thinking about paint colors -- and she was the one who actually mentioned (an unspecified shade of) blue to go with the floor. The other half of my kitchen has a lot of bright colors, so that's another thing to keep in mind. I'd prefer not to have a totally solid color -- after all, butcher block would look nice (right?) and isn't solid. In terms of less busy stone, what about a Aspen White granite or a quartz with a more subtle veining pattern? We've seen Taj Mahal in both quartz and quartzite and though it would probably work very well, hadn't felt drawn to it. I also am liking some of the quartzes with subtle veining (see the top left four little squares in the first picture in the original post) -- would something like that be too busy, and/or are there granite or other natural stone options that are similar (if we decide to go the natural stone route)? I also found this suggestion on Houzz of a less-busy granite that might work with a slate floor - thoughts? -- I do have the beginnings of an idea book, here and on Pinterest -- here are a couple of links to ones I particularly like: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/307863324533778336/ I love the blue cabinets with the slate floor! Although we are probably going with a stainless farmhouse sink. Notice the white-is countertop: wonder what material that is? http://pinterest.com/pin/15621929927201978/ Interesting how they offset the look with a blue/butcher block island and white cabinets. We don't have the option of an island as contrast, so I wonder how this could be incorporated. Thanks, @thinkdesignlive and everyone else!...See MoreRelated Professionals
