Nice space! I would switch the end table to the other side of sofa to center the sofa. Pull the rug back &centered to sofa/tv console so sofa sits on rug-not tv console. Put floor lamp in corner where the end table is now. Plant where floor lamp is now. Glass/metal or acrylic coffee table. 2smaller chairs -possibly vintage to add some age in the room -reupholstered in a fun small print with the colors of your rug. Down filled pillows on sofa. Cream/white drapes on windows. I feel like the Buddha pic competes with the tv-maybe add it where the alcove by the stairs with chest/console underneath(where the tricycle is now) &I will add more storage. Maybe replace the big picture with a collection/gallery in a more square organic shape, rather than rectangle. Long runner in the kitchen-bringing the fuscia color over there. Picture below has many elements that I'm seeing--great pillows/clear coffee table, possibly a bench under the window, smaller chairs.......and I like the sheer Roman shades, as well.

We just moved and I'm having trouble finishing the living room. I think I need a rug but am unsure what area rug would not clash with the floral picture. My husband hates curtains but likes rugs. Does anyone have an ideas of how make this room look finished? PS: are the pillows ok or the wrong ones for this room? Photos in comments

Curtains would be a good idea. Even though you have blinds for privacy, curtains make the windows look finished. A little eyeliner besides the mascara. I would not do a colored curtain here. Curtains are just to darn expensive to have to switch out when your color palette changes. I would suggest white or off white, whichever you prefer in a silk or silk-like fabric, and get a marvelous trim for the edge. The edge trim can be in a white and black or whatever color you want to take from your rug or elsewhere in the room. I would not do a curtain trim in gold here because I see 4 windows, for 8 panels, that would be a lot of gold. You want tasteful gold embellishment in a space, not Liberace in Las Vegas. Here are some examples of trimmed curtains. Buy the plain curtain, and then buy the trim of your choice, and buy extra trim to embellish throw pillows, and buy coordinating different scale trim for other throw pillows. Another curtain option is a white curtain with a subtle pattern woven or printed on it.
