Paint Lighting Design Dilemma

Kitchen Ceiling Paint & Lights – Help!

I'm looking for some input on our kitchen in our midcentury home. The ceiling was previously a brown wallpaper meant to look like a tin ceiling and we decided we wanted to paint it white as it felt very low and dark.

In the below photo we have done primer only. Two design questions!

1. Which white paint to use on the ceiling? We have BM Chantilly Lace walls and trim in the hallway outside of this room but, the walls in the kitchen itself are creamy textured stucco. (Second photo shows the stucco and colour better.) Should I go with Chantilly Lace on the ceiling?

2. Lighting! I'd like to replace two ceiling lights as well as the track lighting over the sink. I am torn between black or antique brass in the below two fixtures. Any opinions would help me narrow this down!

I would do antique brass. but I also would want to improve the light quality over the center of the room, which this will not do.

Thanks! I thought with the glass shade it would at least be brighter than it is currently. Any thoughts on ceiling paint?

Hi everyone, Looking for some expert advice on recessed and pendant light layout for our kitchen remodel. Current plan is the layout shown in the figure below, There will also be under-cabinet lighting. One dilemma is whether to place the recessed lights at 36" out from the wall, as I see in many design photos, or to place them at 24" out above the edge of the countertops, as I've seen recommended. Is that necessary with under-cab lighting? Does it make more sense? In our kitchen design, if we had the recessed lights at 24" out, how would we lay out the vertical line of lights on the right side, where 2 of the lights are in front of the refrigerator and pantry? Those can't be placed at 24" out obviously. Thoughts, advice? Thank you.

I got up on a ladder yesterday and tried to pry to contact plate up in the sockets. I was able to get one of them up but the other one was broken/missing. So it looks like we’ll be getting a light kit at the minimum. The morning room is 15’4”x 11’8”. The rug we had in there was a 6’x9’. I thought an 8’x10’ would work better so the chairs could stay on the rug but I bought one a couple months ago and it just seemed way too big for the space. I would do the ceiling paint in the same paint color white as the trim, only use a flat or matte paint. You look to have black cabinet hardware, and darker countertop, I think I would try to stay in the stainless, brushed nickel of your appliances for the light fixture.

yes but those fixtures take a bulb that glows orange, and if you put a regular bulb in it will be very glary to the eye.
