SPC is not LVP. LVP can be brittle, especially the thinner click locking mechanisms. SPC is a solid vinyl product that should perform well and having sold it for roughly 2-3 years, am unaware of any consistent problems with them. As far as finish wear on vinyl, again some of the more cost effective products are likely only finished out with a few coats of polyurethane but many of the better quality materials are finished out with polyurethane PLUS either a ceramic-bead or aluminum oxide finish which make the finish more resistant to scratches. Newer vinyl products are being referred to as "RVP" which stands for Rigid Vinyl Plank and are also well-performing products. I do not think you'll have issues with furniture denting SPC or RVP-core products - LVP, yes if it's heavy enough. Laminates are also solid materials. They are similar to vinyl in that they are not real wood (rather they are digital prints - pictures of wood) but quality products will hold up to wear-and-tear nicely. They can scratch but not easily but most laminate products do not perform as well with respect to moisture. The core underneath a laminate is fiberboard which is essentially sawdust (wood) and a few other things - wood swells with moisture and most laminates will do the same. The newer water-resistant categories will perform better with respect to moisture however they are not waterproof so if they are exposed to moisture for a prolonged period of time some swelling will occur (though most say it is marginal). Engineered is "real" wood - it is not a digital print. Big win is you get more return on your investment come resell time as you can advertise real wood when you sell the home but they will likely scratch easier and wood does not hold up to moisture quiet as nicely. Good bamboo (ie. the $12/sf price point) is very dense. Any wood floor can dent with heals. It depends on the size of the heal (is it a 'Queen Mum' wide-body heal or is it a 3" stiletto?) and the size of the human wearing it (the movie 'Kinky Boots' comes to mind). A 250 lb man in stilettos is going to put very big dents into pretty much any wood floor he walks on....the pounds per square inch come into play when dents are created. A bad bamboo or bad engineered hardwood is going to dent easily. They are perfectly fine on stairs. They are still rigid wood-like floors. In fact cork does very well on stairs (the softest hardwood in the world!!!). The FINISH is what scratches. The FINISH is what takes all the abuse. A bad factory finish will scratch like the dickens...and look like it needs to be refinished inside of 15 years. That's one of the differences between 'good' bamboo and 'bad' bamboo. A high-end bamboo product is going to cost you some SERIOUS money. I'm not kidding. It is HEAVILY engineered. In fact it can be 30% adhesive (glue...holding the grass together). It can be carbonized. It can have upto 15 coats of UV cured Aluminum Oxide urethane applied to it. Just because it is all produced in China doesn't mean it is cheap/cost effective to purchase. It isn't. The independent importers are very specific about who they source from (a bad batch can bankrupt them) and what type of product they sell. All of that 'human input' has a cost. The mature bamboo (7+ years old) is expensive. It is hard to harvest. It is harder to process (because it is so thick and strong). It requires VERY EXPENSIVE adhesives (allowed in the EU = darn near Zero VOC levels = very expensive). And the finish (15 layers) take ++ time to create and cure and stack, etc. Keeping it climate controlled is SUPER IMPORTANT = very expensive. It is required at time of creation, during transport (on the ship) and when it arrives in port/warehouse facility. And it is HEAVY. Heavy = dense = expensive to ship around the world. And THAT'S why $12/sf bamboo is worth it. But the $4.99/sf cr@p isn't. A solid white oak 3" plank (character grade) = $4.99/sf and WELL worth it.

I couldn't find many photos or reviews on Trucore XXL Mellow Oak LVP flooring when I wanted to purchase it so I thought I would write a review. The planks were installed in July 2022, so I've had them for about a year and a half now. Texture - I initially thought that the more textured planks made them look and feel more luxurious. The texture was one of the reasons that I wanted these. However, once they were installed, I quickly noticed that it was too much texture. We work from home and after a day of walking around barefoot on the floors, you can feel all of the very indented bevels and texture. It's bothersome even with socks on. In our area, it's customary to remove your shoes when entering the home so it's always on my mind when we have guests over. Patterns - The sample had a greyish tone with some color variations in it and maybe one or 2 wood-look notches. However, when we received the planks, we noticed that the greyish tone we loved wasn't on many of the planks. The planks we recieved had more of a beige color to them, sometimes even yellow tones. The pattern is repeated over and over making the planks look super cheap. If you are looking for something luxurious, this isn't it. Painted bevel - I loved this in the sample, but as mentioned above, the bevel feel so indented and just allow for dirt to get stuck in the bevels making it impossible to get the floors clean. My dad comes to visit often and refuses to walk around without shoes on because the floors "will mess up his white socks" even after he personally cleans them since he feels like my floors are always dirty in the cracks. Installation - The floors have cork padding which isn't common, I've heard. Make sure your installer glues the tiles down and levels the foundation well. Otherwise, you will end up like me and have hollow spots everywhere. The planks don't seem heavy enough and are too long to weigh themselves down to avoid the hollow areas. So when we walk around, you can hear the floors popping and making noise as you step down onto it. Scratch resistant - Not at all.. and the scratches are very noticable. This may be due to the pattern perhaps. My suggestion would be to get Cali pro vinyl longboards. They are a much cheaper option and have similar styles and colors, but the board are just a couple of inches smaller. My neighbor has Cali Pro longboard LVP. She paid half the price I did and hers have held up much better than my floors even with 2 large dogs and 3 children under 5 years old. Moral of the story for me, spending more money doesn't mean you are getting a better product. I spent a really long time looking for the perfect floors just to be disappointed.

OK...I'm sure these guys believe what they are saying...but they are discussing FLOATING FLOORING. That is sitting on HDF (fibre board). The WATER PROOF stuff is 100% cork. It is 4mm - 8mm thick. There is nothing but cork...cork...and then some cork. Nothing in the middle. When people say that cork isn't good with water, I always ask them: What is in wine bottles? Cork. What is the material that kept the Titanic's Champagne 'sweat' (ie. now salt water intrusion)? Cork. I'm not kidding. Google the sale of Titanic Champagne. It exists...and so does the CORK that kept the sea water out (at 3800m = 12,000 feet). Cork is glued down to the subfloor. It is butted tightly together. Then a polyurethane is applied over top = water proof. You can spill GALLONS of water on the floor and it will sit there. The cork does nothing. It doesn't care. So long as the water does NOT reach the walls or the cabinets you are fine. This is IDENTICAL to stone. This is identical to porcelain. So long as the water does NOT reach the walls, you are fine. Just suck up the water and go. Cork is the same. Whosoever 'poo poos' cork's water proof properties does not know the REAL cork flooring. The CLICK together stuff is a different animal and it needs to be TREATED as such. I can get a floating cork floor in a kitchen. No problem. How? Because I know what I'm doing and I know what I'm dealing with. Am I an installer? Nope. Just a sales chic! But I've done it, personally, on several occasions. I can also install a decent glue down cork tile in a BATHROOM. Yep. Baths, kitchens and entranceways = super happy places for glue down cork tiles. But cork is expensive and takes +++ MONEY to install (if it is glue down). So the cork industry tries to make it easier to install....but the SALES people (and many installers) fail to understand the product and they FAIL to follow installation/maintenance instructions. I can get the softest wood floor (cork) to be water proof (glue down tile) and to be the toughest floor you will ever meet (Loba 2K Supra AT applied x 2 coats after installation). But then again, I know what I'm doing; I know what I'm working with and I UNDERSTAND what cork is. I think you would be hard pressed to find the same with the Gents in the video. As for resale, the EXPENSIVE cork glue down tiles = as valuable as marble flooring. Nope. Not kidding. But then again, I understand cork.
