Only problem with a battery powered mower---you'll probably never finish mowing your lawn! About the time ya get it 3/4 done, the battery will be dead! Then ya have to wait for it to recharge. While the grass keeps growing-- So then, ya have to mow the long stuff first, and the battery will be dead again! Now--ya have a mess out there-grass at varying heights, the neighbors will be making circles along-side their heads, and your grass will look like you have been sampling the Thanksgiving sauce! A gallon of gasoline, or two, can prevent all of that! RJ

Spot Shot sprayer from Rosemania. I've had one for 10 years (or however long they've been selling it). You can get the batteries pretty cheap at Home Depot and other places (like $25 instead of $45) and you can even buy a 12V motorcycle charger at Walmart (much better and safer than the un-controlled walwart that comes with the Spot Shot). I make sure to completely rinse the jugs when finished and then run an entire jug of clean water through the spray nozzle before putting it up each time. That's the only maintenance I've ever done on it besides replacing the battery. During the peak season, I spray 10 - 12 gallons at a time, which takes two jugs, at least. No problems whatsoever. It even sprays 12 gallons of Bayer + Pentathlon (manzate powder) on a single charge and that stuff is thick! It's the greatest thing on two wheels for roses. :-)

I've seen many houses with candles in every window that are much brighter. Are these people using electric candles? Yes. The wires are a pain, but they still have the best quality light output currently available. As LED technology improves this should change, but right now all of the battery operated options I've seen pale in comparison. Too dim, and in the case of the options with 'flickering' lamps the light output is barely visible from a distance. Now, on Christmas wreaths with the clear string lights on front doors and windows. Can you buy lights that are battery operated? Yes, both Lowes and Target are stocking battery operated LED strings which would be ideal for wreaths. However, you may not like the quality of light LEDs emit. On the plus side, LEDs consume a fraction of the energy that the mini (twinkie) lights do so you should see improved battery life. I haven't seen the battery operated twinkie lights available in the usual retail outlets for several years now. If you've got to have them you'll have to search online. Does your spotlight operate wih batteries? I'm really trying to get away from cords LOL. No such animal exists since it isn't practical (you would need a heavy duty battery). I hear you on dealing with extension cords, but IMO one well placed spotlight on your front entry is a much easier solution and it looks better. It gives a stronger sense of 'Welcome, this is where you enter'.

Target is one and there are lots of others out there, I have them for hurricaines. I find that they do not last very long and I am forever needing new batteries. Some of them are rechargable batteries but it is still a pain. I am having a similar issue in my office. I am going to run a thin extension cord around the base board painted white so it will not show much and then drop a surge protection strip behind a the little table and voila .. an outlet where I need it. I went through the process of what it would take to put an outlet in there but it is really complicated and labor intensive and not worth the money just for one lamp. Kalinka
