SW pure white vs SW extra white
Comments (51)Amy Sivley, we had our cabinets painted Snowbound with extra white on all the trim. They look like the same color. Its a very stark white. in certain lights the snowbound has a pink hue & the extra white has a blue hue. way to bright for me but I’m stuck with it we did Pure white on our ceilings & love it. I wish i would have picked something that doesnt blind me when I walk in the kitchen. all our trim throughout the house is bright white & Im trying to pick a white for the walls & having trouble.we did Cedar Key in a few rooms & that looks great but I want to try white....See MoreWhite wall color to go with antique white cabinet color
Comments (6)I probably would stay away from bright white walls, which may only serve to make cabinetry appear dirty. Who chose the cabinetry color? Nobody can advise minus a photo, and any decision will be affected by light and exposure in the home. I hope you have seen all your elements chosen, WITH said cabinet tone. In person. None of which we're seeing so we would need a crystal ball : )...See MoreSW Pure White or Extra White?
Comments (27)Hi - there is a method for paint colour comparison you can access yourself, using the website EasyRGB .com. See the ‘how to’ via Youtube - the land of color - videos - ‘Color Muse - Use Hue Angle to Find Paint Colors‘ In answer to your question, this method allows you to do lots of things - including find the data for a colour by paint name AND input data, such as Lightness (Value) Chroma and Hue Angle° to see which paint colours are closest. Very cool! The information I gave you is in the Munsell system format, which is more complex to process. (Blue) But EasyRGB uses the alternative colour space of CIELAB. (Pink) Both can be plotted using the Color Wheel above. Using CIELAB, Software is approx 7 points darker and 0.14 more colourful. You can also compare their location within a Hue Family using the Hue Angle° You will notice the difference in Lightness, but the difference in Chroma is very small and unlikely to make much of a difference, especially outside....See MoreCoverage on Sherwin Williams colours with high reflective white base
Comments (4)I can speak only to having done our master bath and closet, and it seemed crazy to me that the previous color was SW Accessible Beige (not dark) and we were redoing in BM Super White. The painters did not prime bath area before painting saying they prefer to just use the paint in more coats, which was absurd to me at $75 a can of BM paint! Took them 3 coats. I was responsible for doing the large closet and although I primed first, still it took two coats for full coverage. I would insist on priming 2 coats if necessary (and cheaper), matter of fact have the primer tinted to the room color might help too. I swear paint is getting thinner requiring more coats no matter what. I've used Behr, SW and BM and find this to be the case. Good luck to you!!...See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
