Annie, the sides are raw, but I think finished but I agree, it is a relaxed colorful piece. oldbat2be-He is too scared of it (for now). I couldnt get him to stand on it. I would probably do #3 if you are up for rewiring. If you keep them where they are, three big ones hung at distinctly different levels Be aware that with clear bulbs and clear glass globes there is going to be a certain amount of glare and that the glass itself will cast shadows on the wall because for each fixture lit from inside, there are two that are going to have light cast on them. And shadows cast from the three cords. The light in the area may be more even if these are not the only source.

I told the saleschild at the local distributor that I'd had no problems with the one I bought from Modernica 15 years ago, and he tried to tell me that Modernica only made knock-offs. Rubbish. Don't mess with me about MCM design history, kid. I know the history of that whole situation, and they made originals with original equipment which they bought from a manufacturer who went bankrupt. But HM, which operates the George Nelson Foundation, saw how popular the lights had become, and sued over licensing and won. Clearly I'm more than just a little ticked off. But I have asthma, and am also awaiting a test for potential cancer, so I don't fancy breathing in all kinds of nasty VOCs for weeks on end. Arghhhh!

I also love mixing styles - especially ornate like Victorian with simple like MCM. You’re in the right track but I would definitely not do the globes in that fixture, sorry - to my eye it would look like 1930’s schoolhouse. An MCM fixture is the best, perhaps something brass with opaque shades, or something industrial with Edison bulbs would also be cool. Good luck and please share whatever you decide to buy!!
