I agree with June Know, but, also please clean out the caulk around that bathtub, and get new caulk in there, before you have mold inside your walls, if you dont already. Make it all look clean and nice and fresh, until its time to do the remodel.

Marci - I know that I’ve read comments from several pros advising people that it chips. I do know someone who actually did a DIY white glaze to her bathroom (it started out in similar color to yours). She wanted to remodel the bathroom within a few years so she did it as a short term solution. She also decided to do it as a DIY because she had also recently remodeled her kitchen and didn’t have much $$ left to spend on it. I was surprised that it worked as well as it did. She wound up selling her home 2-3 years later (unexpectedly) - and the shower tiles still looked nice (I walked through it right before she listed it because my daughter was considering purchasing it - tiles weren’t chipped - just looked like 4” square white field tiles). It’s obviously not a long term solution, but it might get you through a couple years. If you are interested, I will try to reach out to her and find out exactly what product(s) she used. I had a local service come in and do it on a tub that I'm not ready to rip out yet. Tub only was about $400 (walls were already white.). It's held up fine, but you do need to baby it a bit more than a factory finish, i.e. no abrasive cleaners can be used.

I only use bath magic eraser to clean

The most concerning thing I see is the lack of caulk. Water is getting behind the tiles. You have mold growing. You have to remove all remaining caulk and mold & let it dry out before recaulking. Also you can get a 100% silicone caulk that matches better. Mapei makes them.

There is some sort of epoxy spray on coating that will work. I've only seen it a couple times. Had to abrade some off a Corian countertop years ago; a nightmare job upon which I made about $9.00 an hour.

I apologize for not responding sooner. It was the same product used by the person who posted photos above. She said that it was fairly easy to use - as long as you do proper prep per the directions. She save a lot of money by doing this - especially since she wound up selling her home a few years later.

Sorry, here is a before priming picture, but after waded and using waterweld. Waterweld is difficult to sand, so don’t over fill.

I did this myself, so I couldn’t say. I would try searching bath reglazing. I’ve read that most are disappointed with how long it lasts with pro refinishing. I’m not sure if it’s the lack of prep or customer’s use of harsh products on the finish. You can’t bleach a glazed tub.

You should not use bleach on a cast iron porcelain tub either it reacts to the castor on and causes brown rust stains.

We had a professional come in an spray our tile and 1950s cast iron tub. We could NOT get the tub clean, so we felt like we had to do this. I would do it again, but know that it is NOT a permanent solution and it will not be perfect. It really is just buy some time before you do a full renovation. The tile outside of the bath surround and bathtub is still pristine and won't need to be redone. The tile in the bath surround and the bathtub itself lasted about 6 years before anything significant starting degrading - we're now at 11 years out and it's getting pretty bad in the surround and tub. The degradation on the bath surround started at some grout lines and where the little suction cups on the shower curtain connect to the wall (you probably shouldn't use the suction cups if you want this to last). The tub coating broke down at the drain and a we had a couple spots where we dropped things and the coating chipped. We just did a facelift in the bathroom in the hopes that we can go about another 5 years or so before a full renovation. We'll likely get the tub and surround coated one more time in the near future with the expectation it will last about 5-6 years again. I would never trust any professional that told me it would last forever or used deception to sell it - it's not a permanent solution. You must have reasonable expectations and understand the product - if you do and decide to get it coated, you'll likely be happy.

The best way I know to set $400.00 on fire is to spray a coating on a kitchen sink. I've never seen it work. I've seen perfectly restorable Corian sinks ruined with this crap.

If you have it done, put your home on the market, and stop using the sink, it may be a value.
