Carpet or Coretec on stairs?

We have Fairweather Oak HD LPV in our family room. I would love to have it installed on the stairs, but it is quite expensive. Has anyone used Coretec on stairs? Can you share a picture?

Stairs are expensive. We've seen a stair quoted at $1,800 that had 11 treads and 12 risers. This quote is TOTALLY normal. And that's just for labour to install a rigid floor on the treads.

What do you have NOW on the stairs? What is your budget? If you are REALLY interested in doing this, but can only afford the MATERIALS but not the labour, then PURCHASE THE FLOORING.

Man-made products (like vinyl, factory finished hardwood, etc) have a 'shelf-life' of 18 months. I'm not kidding. In less than 1.5 years you will NEVER find this stuff - EVER - AGAIN.

The tip is to PURCHASE the material and store it. When you have built up your savings you can have the stairs done at a later date....but you cannot put in product that no longer exists.

Stairs are expensive. You *can assume $100/tread+riser for materials...and the same for labour...possibly a snick more for labour. That's the cost of rigid stairs.

There lower price of carpet is the main reason why people back down and go with carpet on stairs. The cost is reduced by about half.

Just some tips if you are hummming and haaaahhhhhing.

What did you end up doing? I have Fairweather Oak floors also and am trying to figure out the steps now. We did purchase the coretec stair treads to match but immediately returned them because they were sooo slippery. They didn’t have the same traction as the flooring, strange. Any advise is appreciated!

If you are looking to do a decorative carpet on the stairs (only) then one way to do it is to use the carpet as a RUNNER...not a stringer-stringer carpeting. The other thing to consider is normally the stairs should match "something". If you have different carpet at the top of the stairs that does not match the stair carpet, that NORMALLY means you have different carpet DOWN stairs. The stairs will match the carpeting on the MAIN floor. I'm not hearing that this is your scenario. What type of flooring do you have on the main floor? This is what the stairs will be MATCHING if you choose to go this route (stairs not matching carpet upstairs). The other way to do this is to use the decorative carpet on the stairs and then pay to have an area rug cut and bound in your chosen "stair" carpet. This area rug then sits in the entrance/bottom of the stairs. This is a quick, easy (slightly less expensive) way to get the stairs to match "something".....'cause they really should match something. Right now they match the upstairs carpet. Once you change this design feature, you need to REPLACE it with another version of "must match something". The bound area rug in the same carpet is one of the fastest ways to do this. Good luck. Remember to look at your main level flooring and decide whether or not you want to go forward with this concept.

The stairs are carpeted now, but stained wood underneath. We plan to remove the carpeting and have considered painting the stairs and the trim (to be consistent with the basement room we are installing Coretec in) and using a carpet runner on them.

For those that have installed Calypso Oak on stairs and main levels, how is it holding up 2,4, 10 years after the fact? I wanted to installed LVP to have in my entry way, on stair, and on my main level, but my contractor had a lot of negative things to say about LVP and scratches. Any feedback would be appreciated.

One other way is to stain match calypso oak with full treads and risers. I prefer this way, but a larger investment and takes wood floor professional to achieve.
