Kohler Bancroft or Underscore?

We are choosing a new bathtub for our shower/tub combo and are going between the Kohler Underscore and the Kohler Bancroft. It will be placed about 17” to the left of the toilet. My husband does not take baths, but I plan to MAYBE once a month (not too often).

Does anyone have experience with either of these? From the research I’ve done, the prices are similar and the interior basin dimensions are similar.

Underscore:

What I like about Underscore:

The clean sleek look

Lower step over height of 19” with still a soaking depth of 15.5 inches

What I don’t like about Underscore:

The lumbar recline is only 15 degrees (not sure a bath pillow can make up for this??)

Bancroft:

What I like about Bancroft:

The lumbar recline is 34 degrees

What I don’t like about Bancroft:

The step over height is higher at 20” but the soaking depth is lower at 15”

The basin looks more rounded, and to me maybe more small that the straight rectangle look?

Thoughts?

As someone that takes bath several times a week i would need the 2nd with the 30 but since u mainly take showers I would get the 1st its aesthetically better looking jmo

I have the Bancroft tub in one house and am now considering it for my winter house. It’s great for a nice relaxing soak! Two things to consider before making a decision. It takes a fair amount of water so, just make sure your water heater can handle it. A few years ago I had a hip injury and had a very difficult time stepping in and out of the tub. It has been in my home for 16 years and it still looks new. I have soft water and have never had to scrub it. I just spray it with a tub cleaner, let if sit for a few minutes and spray it with water.

Mom & Dad have the Memoirs one piece comfort height elongated seat toilet and have had no problems with it. The 2 piece round front standard height Memoirs in their powder room on the other hand has had clogging issues. Just to throw a little extra in the mix, they both agree that the Kohler Portrait 2 piece comfort height elongated toilet in the basement is the best toilet in the house. Hope this helps!

Those of you who have the Bancroft toilet do you have any problems with the handle sticking when you flush? I have had experience with a toilet made by Church that has a similar style handle which will stick in the up position and cause the water to keep running until it is pushed back down.

Will I regret a Moen shower system instead of Kohler bancroft?

Kohler Bancroft was on my short list for my shower system, but in the end I went with a Hansgrohe for the same reason your husband wants the Moen - functionality. The Bancroft is beautiful, but simple. You just have to think if you guys will actually use all the functions of the Moen. If you will, it's probably worth it to go with that. I'll let other people chime in on quality, as I've personally only ever actually had Delta and Hansgrohe.

Kohler Underscore vs. Archer tub?

We replaced an older Underscore overmount that was improperly being used for a tub/shower combo with a newer Underscore alcove tub, no apron K-1121-R-0. The 30” width is no problem, I would be more concerned about her height as far as ability to get out of the tub as its somewhat deep (great for soaking!). I am 6’ 260lbs and feel the tub is still roomy. We did have problems ordering the tub so I recommend ordering before you start construction. We got a left facing tub first, the second tub was cracked, the third one was fine. Ordered through Home Depot first and then Amazon, returns were all handled just fine. Photo is after tile but before the glass swinging splash panel was installed.

The first one is much better looking so given that you take baths infrequently it would be my choice.
