I Want My Computer in My Master Bedroom, But..
Comments (19)"I like the idea about putting the PC in the closet, but I'm wondering if the closet would be big enough (2 bi-fold doors - 4 foot opening and then almost 6.5 feet of space inside and about 3.5 feet deep)." If your closet is 3.5' deep you have plenty of room to put in a computer desk. I am not talking about having you to work inside the closet. Just having the desk and shelves in the closet. Then you open the bifold doors and pull up a chair and pull out the keyboard tray from the desk. You would have lots of breathing room. You wouldn't be *inside* the closet at all. You could keep all the peripherals off to the side in the closet behind the wall that you say you have for storage in the closet. When you are done move the chair back and pull the closet doors closed. All the paperwork mess is hidden. You could build a custom desk and shelving as another option. If you really want to put a TV on the room, why not consider puttting the TV on the wall above the dresser rather than having the mirror. Could this work for you? You have a connecting bathroom with a mirror to use and probably do not need another huge mirror a few steps away in the bedroom. Mirrors in bedrooms are bad Feng Shui anyway, then again, so are having TVs in the bedroom, but if it fits your lifstyle then do it. You could also get a matching modular entertainment center put the TV in it and use the drawers for your socks and sweaters. There is no rule that says you have to use the drawers for media related items....See MoreLoft Style Master Bedroom in an Apartment
Comments (11)Thank you everyone for the suggestions!!! I am going to go take a look at the place next week. The furnishings pictured are not ours but are the apartment model's. My main concern is the bedroom not being a cozy comfortable space. I'm a fan of open concept as much as the next, but I like my bedrooms to feel enclosed and safe. I know there is at least a bathroom and two walk in closets in the bedroom. What I am thinking now is of draping some nice curtain panels to give it the semblance of being an enclosed space. Might be cheaper than the panels previously suggested, but give the same effect. I also love the idea of moving a chair to be near the rail, as well as having the dresser next to the rail. I will post more pictures of the actual space as soon as I have them. Thank you everyone for your time in commenting!!! PS: Just to clear my fiancé's good name, he was trying to surprise me by taking care of this task and was able to get a fantastic deal on it. He fell in love with the floor plan, and thought I would too. Poor guy.......See MoreMaster Bedroom Style Direction?
Comments (16)Another vote for no accent wall. In a way,I see the three windows as your accent. I would probably keep the bed and side tables low and lean, gleaming wood. Add texture via rug and linens, and other furniture and if that wasn't enough....then I'd add a textured wallpaper like raffia or silk. (ahh, who am I kidding...I'd already have the paper ordered) Beautiful space, absolutely love all the windows....See MoreTile for my master bedroom fireplace
Comments (4)Like it. Also like the smaller pattern you used for your backsplash. Would not want "texture" over or around a wood burning fireplace as it will almost inevitably catch smoke particles and be difficult to keep clean -- textured stone certainly was. Something to consider might be to use the pattern directly over the fireplace and metal surround but use a solid color from it for the <1' wide side columns to frame it, especially if your mantel will not span the full width of the wall....See MoreBeverlyFLADeziner
